Hi folks

Seems like StarSat now have HD decoders available including instalation for R599, crossing fingers that it is true, sent an sms to 40004 Star. Hopefully they will come back to me before end of business day.

you only need to buy the hardware then you are set. think you will need a dual LNB aswell if you want to do a self install. :)

They will have to bind people to a 12 or 24 month contract, otherwise nothing has changed and they will just lose more money...

Sent them a SMS, but unfortunately they called during an inconvenient time. The HD decoder will cost R300 excluding installation. Will fit my existing TopTV setup and a twin lnb is not required.

Also received a telephone call from an agent/consultant now. How it works is as following you have 2 options to choose from. If you have an existing TopTV/StarSat installation only pay R300 for the HD decoder only, includes free delivery or option 2 pay R599, includes decoder, installation + free delivery. You have to pay into their banking account, once payment reflects StarSat will contact you immediately to make arrangement for delivery.

It's weird that the consultant actually knew my name probably cause I was an old subscriber, definitely going to take them on their offer.

If you want to take advantage of this deal SMS Star to 40004.

Is the decoder a HD PVR?
What shows do they have on HD?

I currently have their basic R99 package + indian bouquet

Nope just a standard HD decoder branded under StarSat, prices are changing next month

Star Sat Special: R99/month
Star Sat Sensation: R149/month
Star Sat Superior: R199/month
Star Sat Indian (add-on): R99/month

Also the new domain name will be www.starsat.co.za already some movement is happening so hopefully next week their website will be up and running

Looks like I will now have to pay more for the same package :(
I'm currently paying R169 for the combo.

Is there any new content for the R30 more? My wife only watches the soapies. It's still cheaper than Dstv but they need to improve the package if they are going to charge more.

Not sure, we will have to wait and see.

Keep an eye on www.starsat.co.za that will be their new home.

I am keen to actually buy the decoder or take the installation package that way I have best of both worlds :) OVHD installation will set me back R1500 with decoder. StarSat works out cheaper R600(WITH installation), then I purchase the decoder separately f0r R800

I cannot comment on Indian channel bouquet cos I don't subscribe, hopefully the entry packages will have more channels, more variety etc. from R269)premium price to R200, they seriously want more and more subscribers, hopefully the gamble will pay off.
