Create a separate Capitec account with your selected business name and then put out the word! Don't worry about too much red tape yet, you can handle that when you actually start making money.

I am not so sure if I would start a "support" business whilst being full-time employed, support takes hours.

It will be hard to juggle.

With little to no time for yourself. And one day you will realise that you work, eat, shower, shyte and sleep.

That will be the day you will have to make a choice to say yes boss, or to be the boss.

You might even find the hours you put in are not worth the money. Or you like job security. Or you are up for a new adventure.

The adventure will follow a hard path, but can be rewarding. The current job offers currently more regular/steady income.

Which of those choices are you?

Hire freelance IT Support guys. And pay them per call basis.
You need few good guys to boost your business.
Everybody wants flexible working hours now a days.
Some people can work for you even one day a week while they can work for themselves during the other days of the week.
You just need somebody who knows how to manage the time and very skillful when it comes to support.
I have somebody who I can introduce to you for server support, firewalls & VOIP solutions. He can work on the weekends.
Sound interesting?

Thanks. I am looking to build the business then eventually quit my full time job. Be my own boss. I want to start by supporting home users then small businesses. I like the idea of freelance technicians . What is the best way to market this type of business?

A website, Facebook page and then flood local newspapers and Gumtree as well as the local community Facebook group.

Do you have IT support skills?
Do you have sales skills?
Do you have an actual market for your business?

I have IT Support skills but no sales skills. I am working full-time as an IT Technician. Am looking for tips on sales and marketing.

Take Thor's advice... And if you need help, pm him. He told everyone he was bored so he doesn't have any excuse not to help

Sales and Marketing isn't something that someone can teach you. You will have to do it to get a hang of it.

Whut? Why is marketing offered at University? Do you just get a hang of analyzing demographics?

Pure BS.

OP pm I will send you some material to help you become the best sales person you can be!

(Just a side note, you mentioned you are currently working as a sales technician, this venture might be a conflict of interest and your current employer might take issue with this.)

It's like if I was a web developer for a web development company and then decides to make the sites on weekends all the profit to me.

I would say it's the same as studying software development at university.

You don't learn about project management etc. It's something you pick up or learn even if you went to the formal training route.

I see support as a very hard thing to do part time even if you're doing it just for normal people and not businesses.
