Hi Forum,

I have an established platform and want to look at porting a lot of traffic to my website.
One of the main reasons is to obviously enable adsense on the site itself and monetize off it.

Can you guys who have websites already give me an idea how much can be made through ads on a website?
I think the amount of effort itself won't be worth it.I
I'm making an income on different platforms but I realise I should start redirecting traffic to a source website too.

Please give me some tips or advice and whether I should really go ahead with it?

I used to make a nice bit of money with Adsense at one point. A good rule of thumb is to expect a 1% CTR on your ads, if placed correctly. If the CPC is R5 for example, and you get 100 UVs per day, that's R5 per day. Obviously that's a very broad estimate, but it's a good figure to base your calculations.

Keep adding good content, rank with longtail keywords if you are relying on SEO for traffic, you will do fine :) Good luck!

I don't think its worth it anymore and from my experience SEO doesn't work well anymore. Focus on providing real value by selling some product rather than add space.

SEO is most definitely worth it. It has just changed in that you want high quality inbound links since low quality links will actually hurt your rankings.

If you are referring to the SEO where you created a landingpage with keywords to push your product, then yes, SEO is dead. It is also dead for the people who did keyword research to create blogs specifically for the advertising revenue. It has been for some time.

However the 'new' SEO is better than ever. It is based on the quality of the content you provide. If the business is legit and provides an actual valuable service, then you will almost get high rankings by default as long as your web designer or copywriter knows what they are doing.

The latest google algorithm is a bit of a double edged sword however. It killed keyword research (for google at least). However google isnt the only search engine so you can still do it for the rest.

As a freelance writer I personally love all these updates, as writing content now requires experience and knowledge. More business for me!

First off, I am not an expert. So I'll give you newbie kind of what I know about adsense.

If you going to monetize your site with adesense, you going to need a lot of traffic (visitors) coming to your site. Because adsense is a CPC advertising network, the more visitors you have, you stand a greater chance of your ads being clicked (not always the case of more visitors more money though).

That will depend on the factor i mentioned above - traffic.
Depends if Google has advertisers for what ever you are selling.
Depends on what topic you will be covering. Is it on demand?

But since you already making money on other different platforms, I think you stand a good chance. As long as there is demand for your "platform".

My Story:
Two of my blogs are monetized with adsense (3 to be precise, but the 3rd one is only 3 weeks old so hasn't made any income), I have been making around R2 500 to R3 200 every month since the beginning of this year. The earnings are from the two blogs. Honestly, there's potential to make more than that, only that time is a factor - I just dont have it!

Back to you:
I am not sure how much you can make with your plartform, but with only one site, you may not make much to feel the "effort" was worth it.

Conclusion: Cant say if you should go ahead or not, since I dont know the topic. If you could share the topic, I may even do a bit a research with a software to check for you how many people search for your topic, the competition etc etc.

@Siya Mava - looks like you know what you're doing. Links to these blogs? Or PM me if you think you might get banned :P
