Starting an affiliate programme ( Online accommodation bookings )
Hi there everyone,
As you must know by now already, TravelGo has been converted to Wordpress and I'm thinking of implementing an affiliate programme, before we launch the WP version. It'll be one that we'll code ourselves.
BUT: It won't be the standard, refer someone and get commission paid per booking.
Instead: We're trying to aim for growth (establishment numbers/instead of money) from our side, but it must benefit the affiliate too as we assume that bookings will come naturally if we have a very user-friendly, optimised site and a lot of establishments. (Assume is probably not a good word to use here)
**Yes, I know you're saying its always about money, but I'm just fed up with current affiliate systems and looking for a new way to implement one on my own site.
I was wondering if it would be a good thing to maybe ask Affiliates to get establishments to sign up and earn % commission from all bookings to that guesthouse/hotel/lodge for life.
Generating the traffic and bookings will be our responsibility, you just need establishments to sign up and you'll earn commission from every booking that establishment ever receives. Kind of like a passive income with no cookie lifetime limits involved. If you sign them up, you'll get % commission for life. Say, 50% commission of the 15% commission we receive. We don't care who refers the person.
Hope it makes sense.
I also understand the dangers of businesses being spammed by every tom, dick and harry trying to have them listed by us, but the affiliate will have to sign up with us and we'll probably try and track or stop abuse.
Do you guys see any dangers in doing it this way? Something that we might not have thought about? Besides the dangers of us not surviving the next .com bubble or what not. What do you think about the idea of approaching a new affiliate system this way?
