Startling e-toll costs collection revelation

Just this fact should sink the whole story today....hopefully.

That's exactly the reason why we won't get e-tags.

DA = prosperity, ANC = poverty.

They should have looked at all the implications not just at how well they could get their pockets lined.

This is a stupid system that is a dead dino even before it has been activated.

"The deal between Sanral and Kapsch of Austria, the e-tolling operating company is not with the corporate entity, but with Kapsch Sweden.
Kapsch Sweden used to be SAAB Aerospace, a 50% shareholder in a company called SANIP. British Aerospace held the other 50%. SANIP is alleged to be the payment vehicle used by SAAB and BAE to pay the alleged bribes of around R100Million in the Arms Deal saga to ensure that the Gripen fighter was chosen.

The names Hlongwane, Modise, ANC, Zuma, Shaik figure prominently in the list of alleged recipients.

So why Kapsch Sweden, not the corporate entity? I leave it to your imagination.

How much? According to the corporate structure used to implement e-tolling in SA, about 80c of each rand of profit can be repatriated to Austria via Sweden. Gauteng alone expects to generate about R350Million a month in toll fees.

Assuming a very conservative 10% profit available to be repatriated, that means about R28Million a month to go overseas"

Thats what happened after we let them get away with the arms deal!We simply got screwed over again...but enough is enough fluck this day light robbery for one or two tenderpreneurs to get rich at our expense they not pushing this one through!

Its never been about repaying the cost of the new roads.
The public in general will accept they have to be part of that.
This is just a money making scheme / revenue stream for the ANC to use as they see fit.
Who knows what kickbacks are involved once the money heads offshore, and where it flows to from there.

The whole thing stinks, and if it looks like **** and smells like **** it generally is ****.

Will never pay, ever, not under the current system anywhere in the country.

Ndebele said the Gauteng tolls should bring in R3.513 billion in 2012 and 2014. In that same period, it would cost R2.543 billion to collect the tolls.

and 2013?

R2.5bn for collection seems like a very very high number.
Even if thats a total for collections for 2012/13/14 in full its R70m per month!!!

If its a typo and its for 2012/13 and 2014 not included its R105m per month

What where they thinking?
