If you asked this a few weeks ago you could have spent some hours watching Zack Arias Studio workshop on creative live for free. As a starter Zack recommends the following for a startup stuido:
5D Mark I - Second hand body
85 1.8 Lens
50 1.8 Lens
Monoblocs +- 400w/s (or strobes)
Grip (light stands, light modifiers, backgrounds, etc)
As recommended take a course, find out what you need before spending the Rs. Personally after spending much on Flashes, I would have rather spent R12k on getting the D-Lite 4 IT kit from Elinchrome. Its 2x 400w/s monoblocks with softboxes and the ECO RF Skyport trigger (no sync cables req). In SA your other option for cheaper lighting is the Jinbei kits and the Falcon Eyes and then of course the completely DIY route.
