State capture inquiry begins

I can imagine uBaba's dilemma, there is no money for all the endless court cases he is used to in order to delay things, looks like there is nowhere to hide.
Well, his gupta buddies are spending 100 million rands at a wedding this month. I am sure they can pass some money via 'hawala' channels. If they want, that is - I am not sure if they find him useful anymore.

Details of how an unregulated cash-in-transit company was used to circumvent money-laundering laws when paying bribes: https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/art...oney-its-easy-with-a-cash-in-transit-vehicle/
The State Capture commission on Monday, June 24, heard how a cash-in-transit company helped launder R9-million from an alleged corrupt deal between the North West government and SA Express (SAX).

Asset Movement Financial Services (AMFS) director Kalandra Viljoen said her former company provided cash-in-transit services – but the commission heard how it was operating as a bank and flouting laws that combat money laundering.

The man is delusional. How can he claim the commission was set up to further nefarious political agenda when he set it up himself?

Zupta just playing games as usual. Now, apparently he is relishing the moment.

Mantsha told News24 on Tuesday that Zuma never refused to appear before inquiry chairperson, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, and added that because Zuma was invited, he "can't wait to attend. He is relishing the moment."

"There has never been any correspondence from us that he does not want to attend. He has always raised his concerns about the impartial and fairness displayed by the commission, according to his views.

The Presidency have agreed to pay his legal fees, but he can't really delay much: https://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/...-state-capture-commission-can-do-now-20190621

President Cyril Ramaphosa agreed that the state would continue to fund Zuma’s defence costs in his criminal trial‚ pending the outcome of the DA and EFF challenges. He is not opposing those applications and said he will abide by the decision of the court.

The nation is hungry for State Capture arrests

While the immediate political stakes involved in any decisions made by the NPA are immensely high, they are easily as high for the longer-term future of our criminal justice system.

When the commentariat casts its eyes over the general political scenery, much of the debate tends to centre on the balance of power in the ANC. This precarious balance could be tipped at any time. And yet, the precise event that could make the difference is hard to predict.

Meanwhile, public pressure is growing on the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to take action. Day after day there is more damning testimony at the State Capture commission. Many of the people implicated in that wrongdoing are still in government, or in the ANC, or in Parliament, some as powerful as ever.

In such a poisonous environment, it seems that only a decisive set of actions by the NPA, the arrest of people implicated in State Capture, is what could change this balance. For now, there are few visible signs of action.

Recent events in Parliament — and the nomination of the Parliamentary committees’ chairs — has exposed the fault lines in the ANC. People accused of criminal wrongdoing, such as Mosebenzi Zwane and Faith Muthambi, are suspected of being placed in these positions specifically to undermine the agenda of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s government.

Also, there is clear evidence against them and against the man who is seen to be responsible for their appointment, Ace Magashule. The ANC secretary-general himself is seen by most as having a criminal case to answer, much of it contained in Pieter-Louis Myburgh’s book, Gangster State.

All of this points to NPA action against them being the only event powerful enough to break the stalemate.
