State capture inquiry begins

Nice to see it finally being released but not much to get excited about.

All those mentioned will now most likely first try to challenge the report in the regular courts. All the right noises will be made about getting this done as quickly as possible but they will use every delay tactic possible. Next step will be to appeal the verdicts through the SCA and then to the constitutional court.

The NPA/Hawks/Police will sit on their hands and do sweet **** all while that gets cleared up and before the process starts repeating itself. The investigations will go just slightly slower than the gradual shift of continents. Once someone actually does get charged the cries of political conspiracies will ring from every belltower possible. Then we get into Stalingrad territory again and Zuma has given everyone the blueprint/playbook on how to run this in perpetuity.

It will be a miracle if anything happens to a single person mentioned in the report in the next 15 years.

I read the wire a moment ago, and I am happy that the report is being blunt about it, also,

It also recommended that Nedbank possibly be prosecuted if “the investigation reveals that such prosecution is warranted”, and that the Asset Forfeiture Unit recover Nedbank’s profits under the interest swap contracts.

.

I only hope that there will be actual prosecutions with evidence which sticks. The NPA, and in other instances where private prosecutions will be deemed necessary, will go up against a well-connected network. I am only in the opinion that the taxpayer shouldn't be carrying this burden by large. I know there will be more commissions, especially where the cases are complex.

In my view, make haste, don't allow these matters to rest.

This. We could be well into State Capture Phase II by the time these prosecutions get anywhere.

I do expect this Proclamation to come up as a shield in many instances,

(2) [No evidence regarding questions and answers contemplated in subregulation (1), and no evidence regarding any fact or information that comes to light in consequence of any such questions or answers, shall be admissible in any criminal proceedings, excepts in criminal proceedings where the person concerned is charged with an offence in terms of section 6 of the Commissions Act, 1947 (Act No. 8 of 1947), or regulation 12] A self-incrimination answer or a statement given by a witness before the Commission shall not be admissible as evidence against that person in any criminal proceedings brought against that person instituted in any court except in criminal proceedings where the person concerned is charged with an offence in terms of section 6 of the Commissions Act 1947 Act No. 8 of 1947

The Report of the Commission

26. The Commission’s Report will be delivered in three parts, each consisting of a number of volumes. Part I, Part II and Part III of the Report will contain a summary and analysis of the evidence led and the recommendations made in respect of all the workstreams of the work of the Commission. Part I of the Report will be delivered to the President before the end of December 2021, Part II before the end of January 2022 and Part III before the end of February 2022. Part III will include a summary of the Report as a whole.

28. A fundamental question that this Commission is required to answer is whether the evidence led before the Commission has established state capture. A reading of Part I of the Report will show the reader that this Commission has concluded that state capture has been established. This will also be shown in Part II and Part III of the Report. However, it will be in Part III in which the Commission will give reasons for its conclusion.

Lets wait for part 3 end of Feb.

Didn’t read the whole thing, just the recommendations. Not explosive as I hoped to be honest, but we’ll wait for the rest.

Never forget the role of MSM.

"The involvement of the media in perpetuating false narratives which discredited targeted people as well as providing grounds for their removal was a notable feature of the evidence led in regard to the capture of SARS," Zondo found, with reference to now-retracted articles in the Sunday Times, that incorrectly reported about a rogue unit at SARS.

Cyril is again showing the ANC is more important than SA with stupidity like the below :

"Those among our ranks were tempted to push back and challenge the report in our ranks, I urge them not to and to be part of those that safeguard this country and return the ANC to again being an entity that is trusted by the masses."

No Cyril you retard, what you are supposed to do is let those in your ranks push back and challenge the report so that they out themselves, then you eject them from the ANC and sic the Hawks, SARS and every other vaguely relevant agency/department on them and throw them behind bars.

Wont happen, lots of evidence they are keeping to themselves. Evidence like the ANCWL email asking Regiments to pay their flights in exchange for favours etc

You believe they're only releasing redacted versions of the reports?

Not really, his name is mentioned once;
Ramaphosa 1 | Zuma 19
Ramaphosa is mentioned 3 times - you reckon his arrest is imminent now?

Evidence was completed on 12 August 2021, when President Ramaphosa testified for
the second time

The High-Level Review Panel was established by President Cyril Ramaphosa in
June 2018

As President Ramaphosa remarked in his testimony, there has been a “massive system
failure and we need to correct what has happened in the past.

I wonder if there is mention of collusion from likes of FNB and standard bank? I don't recall banks flagging transactions? I vaguely recall some action taken to freeze accounts but it was way later after the horse had bolted.
