I have two questions.

Is it possible to get a static IP address with 8ta?
How do I go about getting unrestricted internet access with 8ta? Is there an APN use, do I need to get permission before doing so?

Thanks.

I guess the only 2 answers are:

No and No

8ta will not give you a static IP (and in anycase it will be useless without an "unrestricted" APN which ONLY Vodacom currently offers).

With Vodacom's "unrestricted" APN you can use a service like DynDNS to update your IP on their servers and you connect to your myip123.dyndns.pro to get access to your PC / server / Mikrotik router.

Good luck!

What is meant by "unrestricted" APN?

AFAIK, I can access all websites and content with my MTN connection, does that mean I have "unrestricted" access? Last time I checked it wasn't the middle-east I was living in

8ta is unrestricted by default. Connect and ping your IP from another device to test.

8ta is unrestricted and Cell C does have such an option- old thread in the Cell C section. So, saying it is only Vodacom is a little misleading. I mean incorrect. Only MTN does NOT (at least according to what I have discovered) but I stand corrected. Does MTN offer it?

8ta and unrestricted APN

Hi All

Can someone please clarify for me...

Does 8ta have an unresctricted APN? Is there anyone using it, and are all incoming ports open?

Ive tried the call center but it seems I know more than them in this regard

Thanks in advance

I am sure if you want a static ip, 8ta would charge you a monthly fee R50 - R100 and by default incoming ports are open
