Hi there

Do anyone know how to change from a dynamic ip on 3g to a static ip?

If downloading bittorrents you need to have a static ip. (azureus) (ares) etc..

Any help plz....

P2P on 3G is going to be expensive, especially Bittorrent.

Tnx for the tip,but how do i open port 6881 to run azureus? Keeps telling me that I have a nat problem on the wizard you run.

Nick123, welcome to MyADSL :).

What APN are you using? e.g. 'internet'; 'internetvpn'? You would need to be on the 'internetvpn', but I agree with biometrics, IMO 3G is a great mobility solution - not a bulk download P2P solution - unless you want to download smallish files via P2P...

PS: Make sure you have a firewall installed - RPM got a bunch of worms on his 3G test PC even behind the NATted internet APN.

To tell the truth,I dont know, think its internet...lol

Just want to get the full potential of a 384 connection by downloading small files here and there..Not downloading doom3 or movies.

Most I got was about 200.

Tnx anyway

Ok well then you should be ok, but call 082155 from a Vodacom cell# [i.e. tollfree] and ask them to switch your data card sim onto the 'internetvpn' APN, it takes a few hours, but it is the first step - you might need to open ports on your firewall, but you will have to try it first and then refer to your firewall documentation or you can ask forumites in the MyADSL Internet Security Forum - assuming someone has the same firewall software that you're using :).

Switch to Bitload, which doesn't need open ports on firewalls and crap. Finds it's own way through the firewall.
The app sorts everything out for you.

Hi all,

How do I go about setting up my 8TA 3g connection with a static IP. Where do I change "internetvpn"? Thanks in advance
