What do you guys do to stay motivated at work?
I'm currently very bored with my job. Still have deadlines but cant seem to focus or be excited about what I am doing.

I've wondered if I should take more breaks (not a smoker). Perhaps I'll be more productive if I'm away from my screen more often.

I remind myself that I'm paid to be there and not to find fulfilment. I provide a service, they provide money, and I worry about my own stuff on my own time.

I used to fondle the receptionist.

Now that it's over, I'm looking for a new job

I'm struggling a lot with this. Quite ready to take on something new but the ones who are meant to be handing work to me are so occupied with their own things that I'm getting left with scraps. I find myself surfing for work at work and that surely isn't a good sign.

this thread is like deja vu. going exactly what OP is going through...

I think everyone on MyBB for most of the day is struggling with the same problem... it's poison I tell you.

It depends. How long have you been bored? It is just a passing phase or is it something that has happened for a while? Most of us go through these phases but if it's not just a passing phase, you should find something you enjoy. I've had jobs before where I didn't enjoy it and it will cause you to fret. Now I'm in a job that I really do enjoy.

I remember that- counting down the hours till I could go home. What I did eventually was resign and find something I love doing. There is nothing more soul destroying than being in a job you hate. Now I can't wait to get to work everyday- last night I worked till 2 in the morning just for fun. lol. Fortunately I was young enough with few responsibilities, so I could make that change.

Its probably been more than a year. I loved it in the beginning cause I was learning new things. I have applied for other positions in the company but I have a learning gap between my current job and the ones that are available. Have thought I should teach myself the skills I lack to lessen the gap.

Then I recommend doing whatever is necessary and getting a job that you enjoy. I can tell you now, I've had jobs that I didn't enjoy at all and it destroyed my soul. There's nothing worse than sitting at work, bored, frustrated and wanting to do almost anything else but work and often counting down the minutes until it's time to go home. Change is never easy but is sometimes required. I'll leave you with this quote:

If you want something you've never had, you have to be prepared to do things you've never done...

I just get stuck into doing the job to get it done, even if I work slower because I'm not motivated or excited to do it.

I take regular breaks (mybb and news24) and I try not to let the stupidity of others compel me to murder...

I play Mafia on myBB..Basically takes my mind of the job when I'm really not feeling it. Most days I take a walk around the building to clear my mind or play some music.

Same position as the OP - I currently spend most of the day on YouTube though - trying to learn new skills - right now, and for the past months the latest skill i've been trying to learn is woodwork - just need to save a crapload of money so i can buy all those awesome power tools i've been learning about.
