There is a whole thread about keeping routers running through loadshedding

That said any Ratel / Gizzu / UltraLAN should work fine. I have a Ratel and it powers my router, AP and switch easily through LS. My ONT is elsewhere in the house and its got its own mini UPS

I was powering a hap ac2 as well from the Ratel using the 12v option - its 12-28v unless you have a different version

Guy in the classifieds is selling a 6kva generator. If you can run that at your house, it's a much better long term solution.

I think the problem is with your batteries. What size (AH) are they? I run the ont and router plus cordless phone, two dstv decoders dvd player and flatscreen tv off an 850 ups without difficulty for over four hours (been a while since i last ran it flat) But i have 300AH worth of battery behind that. When it was new it ran for 48 hours before i chickened out and put the power back on.

If I remember correctly, check the back of the Mikrotik router.. It supports 12v to 24v.. Get yourself one of the sherlo backup power supplys, then add a 12v 7ah batter to it (outputs 12v).. I did that about a week ago. Havent tested yet but should keep it up for 3 hours. U can always add another battery to make it last longer or get a bigger batter (higher ah).. Total cost around R700 and also gives you flexibility. I also connected a LED strip light to mine with a switch, so have so light too.. Just check the output voltage, generally those power supplys are set to output 14V, there is an adjuster on the bottom left corner, which allows you to alter the output voltage. Get a meter and lower till you get around 12V..

I have a similar setup, was given one of those Ratel jobbies but noticed the difference in power requirements between ONT and router so I didnt use it.
Maybe I should take another look.

I stopped being lazy and connected it, doing just fine powering the Mikrotik and ONT.
So that is a pretty decent option and most likely what I would go for, DC-DC is just so much more efficient.

Not ideal to mix like that, but it'll get the job done
Yes, I almost added : And for those who are in the know, one battery is killing the other.
Used to run on the 200 alone but lately it has been suffering (about 11 years old now) the 100AH battery is also in trouble having run my mom's tv for the same time.

Together they are doing well but will need to buy a new 200AH soon. At R5000 i am going to make sure the other two are completely dead before i do it. Waste not want not.

Try this guy, he helped me with my 12volt ONT and my 19Volt Asus modem.

I have the same router at home and it definitely is 12-30Vdc input range. I use this:
Gizzu 8800mAh Mini UPS

The only stupid thing is the splitter cable it comes with is VERY short. What I did was buy extension cables from a 4x4 shop, was like R20 a cable. I run both my ONT and router of it and it will last more than 2 hours easily.
