I can't tell you how many faces I've seen drop when I tune them; it's gonna be cash. They hate cash deals. Cause there's no kickbacks.

Then they still force you to go and see the F&I after the deal is done to find out if there is anything that they can add on.
Get fscked man. I paid the price; wtf do you want to add on now?

Dodgy places with dodgy cars hate finance deals. They give discount for cash buyers because they know if finance and the car give problems the banks will be on them.

I approached 3 dealerships for the same vehicle. Told all of them that I would finance if their interest rate was lower than my bond. This is usually impossible and they can't give you answers unless you do an application. So I ended up with 3 quotes with cash discount, extras etc.

Once I played all of them against each other and got them to remove unnecessary crap I had the best cash deal on paper, from there I swung the finance move for 240k to drop it further.

WeBuyCars offered me 20k more for my old 13yr car so they lost out there as well.

Not sure what gp there is to be made on new cars for dealerships. It certainly felt like a win for me but who knows...

Dealers definitely make more on 2nd hand cars than new ones. But they have targets to hit with new vehicles, if they miss their targets, they lose the franchise. So sometimes their arms can be twisted on new vehicles. (especially unpopular models)

It’s more about the scam they all run on things like brakes, wiper blades and “windshield chip repairs” than the normal servicing stuff because they still charge their normal exorbitant hourly labour rate and therefore inflate very simple jobs by charging full hours for fast jobs and it all stacks up.

It’s not unlike the medical aids where doctors charge crazy money because usually the medical aid is paying, not because the price is fair.

And then some added fear mongering of “you won’t make it to the next service” meanwhile the brakes have 50,000km left on them.

I suppose there are some scammers out there.
With brakes i've never taken chances, if they say they need to be done they do them. I mean its on the maintenance plan anyway so its their call.

Maintenance plan is an entirely different story.

This thread is more about paying out of pocket at overinflated rates for no benefit.

Also with brakes if you aren’t hearing actual noises or have lights on the dash you aren’t actually taken any chances.

The fear mongering is true. Many people don't want to chance it. If you have a newer car, maybe you have the wear sensor but many brake pads actually come with a brake squealer (metal clip) which makes a high pitch noise even when you aren't braking.

Ferodo's have too much brake dust. I had them on my car and actually changed them cos i could not handle the dust
