Stealerships

These wonderful dual clutch gearboxes. Seems reasonable compared to what the VAG dual clutch boxes will cost you to fix at the “stealers”.

VAG 'stealers' don't fix gearboxes, the work gets outsourced, they'll replace parts until it works though before charging you for a new one.

Yip, mine was under warranty and they sent the “box” to Mayfair Gearbox. They basically changed the internal stuff with OEM parts like the clutch packs and various other things. On the invoice, the parts and “re-manufacturing” cost was about R110k and they added another 10k for fitting and gearbox oil. Scary thing now is 2 years later and the warranty is over and that annoying low speed shudder is starting again.

Please help.
VW Tiguan.
What is this thing's cover called and where can I possibly get one?
It's not the towing hook cover, that's further down.

It's the cover for the headlight washer nozzle mechanism that's missing... try a VW stealership or a scrapyard for a replacement cover...

BTW - nice 'racing slicks' you've got there... ;)

I have noticed that quite a few Chinese brands give franchises to dealerships that previously only did second had cars like this Mobilis Auto. While this is good to expand the footprint, lots of these smaller dealer groups don’t have the leverage and volumes to deal with these issues. When spending north of 450k as in this case or any amount really, always check the dealer group you buying from. You will have a lot more recourse options from a large listed motor group doing volumes in the tens of thousands such as a Bidvest, CFAO, Motus, CMH etc than from a small dealer.

Forgot to tell this story. OK is not a dealership.
So a month or so ago I drive and suddenly loose power and just engine lights coming on. I take the car to a "backyard mechanic" just because he is closest, never been there before.
I prepare for thousands of Randelas, maybe tens of thousands.
Few hours later he calls I can come get the car.
Invoice. R720. R400 labour, R320 part.
I am still shocked. Most places ask way more than R720 just for an hour labour.

Where do these people have these problems? Between my Audis at Audi dealerships, and my parents Kia at Kia dealerships i've never had bad experiences or repair issues. it just works, and the odd time something did go wrong they were very apologetic, gave me a spare car and fixed it.

I used Van Graaf Brakes in Centurion for my last few cars. Always been happy with them. Think they have a few branches.

Just got a call from Mercedes where my car is in for service. He started to mention a whole lot of things which need to be done on the car, He finished of with an airco filter which needs replacing. So I said really? His answer was yes.

Then I told him well seems like I caught you guys out. The airco was just serviced a week ago including an air filter which was replaced. Then he suddenly backtracked and said it was his mistake, a quote for another car was by accident attached to mine.

Really, how can I trust that the other work is really needed?
took my bukky for a service . they called me to say i need new front brake pads . he said they were VERY VERY bad , i had just put new front pads on 2 months before
