^ Maybe this is why you not a business owner. So your philosophy is basically to charge customers high prices cause there is a lot of hype and anticipation behind the brand? They are reasonably priced, not cheap and in the long run it is going to count in their favour. They not going to be open for a month and then close down.

Have you eaten there as yet? I ask cause I ate there and the quality was good, the staff were very helpful (underpaid, over worked staff don't help) and the length of the queues cannot be blamed on the franchise.

I'm not a BK fanatic, had it once overseas (absolutely terrible) and once here (quite good, was impressed). SO give credit where credit is due.

I have not eaten there yet. Not a chance in hell am I gonna queue for an hour, let alone 20min to place an order.

Well, currently they are stealing from everyone that has to queue for so long waiting for their food. Time is money u know?

What was the point hyping the brand up to the nTH degree and then they can't even meet demand? Did u read the post a few posts back that was pretty damning of their service levels (items omitted from the order and unhelpful staff) and uncooked chicken wings, disgusting onion rings?

The Whopper is a decent sized burger with good taste. Chips are similar to McD but thicker cut. Cold drinks are bottomless and they have a good variety to choose from. Only Pepsi brands though.

Now to the other items. Do not for a second be fooled by the name of the Extra long Chili cheese. The whole thing is about the size of a hotdog bun. Now if that is "extra long", the creators of that menu really have a sizing issue. And to pay R27.90 for that alone is a complete rip-off. The onion rings were awful. Basically a round piece of dough that absorbed so much oil while cooking, it would put a penguin, caught in a BP oil spill, to shame. Chili cheese nuggets were OK. Really nothing special there. And you remember the wings and brownie that was left out of the order initially? I think they were in such a hurry to fix what they should have gotten right in the first place, they forgot to cook the wings properly and gave the wrong flavour brownie. The wings were still very pink inside and we got a "Blondie" (white chocolate brownie), instead of a "Brownie" (milk chocolate brownie). At this stage we all were quite over the whole Burger King hype and ended up throwing away the wings and onion rings. That's R38 in the bin. Before we left we went to the counter and asked to speak to a manager, but when no one showed up after about ten minutes we decided to leave.

So all-in-all a really bad first experience. And as they say, first impressions last. Will not be going back or recommend BK to any of my friends and family until they fix their serious lack of service and quality.

Had some BK this week. Queues are ridiculous but managed to get in within 10 minutes. Food is good. Steers-ish, but tastier.
Not gonna queue for it again though.
 
Drove past at eightish, and despite fog and chill, queue is still right where it was 2 weeks ago. Stuff that. I'll wait till they open more outlets. I just draw the line at queueing beyond 30 min for food. Though tonight was a good hour and thensome by the looks of it.
 
I find it hard to believe people are prepared to stand in line for 30 minutes to pay for a takeaway - and not even a hint of smokey bacon !!
 
Some days the queue is crazy. Especially on weekends is my experience. I wouldn't wait 30 minutes either.
 
Drove by last night at about 2130.
Line was all over the square!
Kept on driving to Pirates for some steak and ribs.

Perhaps only a reservation needed on a Thursday or Friday night - it can get quite busy.
But I've personally never booked a table - there's always a few available.
 
Does anyone know if for example you've ordered a family meal at BK and twenty mins later everybody wants some more, does everyone have to leave the building and start queueing all over again? or is there an express lane for sit down orders of some sort?

You gotta remember this is a huge tourist spot with plenty of cool stuff to do and there are many people around in the area.
it's like opening one up at Sun City next to the valley of the waves.

BMW is opposite :p

i had my BK on friday ..had the big king and wasnt toooo impressed

too much cheese so tasted alot like a Mcds burger

the steakhouse was good ..tasted a little

but the sides :love:

those cheesy nuggets, wings and onions rings ...furking gooood and must have is the smokey bbq sauce which is damn good

but yeah next time need to try a burger without cheese ..to taste the real meat

Huh, BK SA has no steakhouse... That's the UK! They have the whopper, big king and chili cheese here
