Hi Guys,

I need some help in the exact steps to take when starting a business to get it registered and all the legalities covered. I know there have been a few threads about it but they often get sidetracked and don't actually answer the main questions.

My business wont be making huge cash, its a side business which will probably do a turn-over of R300k/annum, and building from there. I'll also have ONE 50% partner. I want to start the business myself, not involve a costly lawyer/accountant (unless thats actually the way forward, and its not as costly as I imagine).

Whats the easiest and quickest way to start a business? In step-by-step layman terms.

http://www.cipc.co.za/ is also kinda confusing - no clue where to start.

I'm hoping for help like:

1) Go to www.cipr.co.za and click on xyz -> abc
2) Fill out those forms and head to xyz
3) Open a business account with the following forms
4) Register with SARS
5) etc etc
I dunno. Something like that.

Yeah thats not happening right now. CIPR is a complete disaster right now. You can maybe file it, but they are building up a backlog like they are getting paid for it.

Should be better in a few months time.

Also, 50% partner is a poor idea. Make it 49/51. Things don't go well if nobody is in control & can pull the trigger on a decision.

Oh and you do actually need an accountant. The financial statements have to be reviewed, but not necessarily audited.

Yeah shot, saw the whole thing on the backlog in CIPR - dammit.

I'll have a chat to an accountant guy. Thanks for advice.
