Stop people from clearing the Private Data in firefox...

How do you prevent people from clearing the browsing history? It's getting annoying since I usually type m in the navigation bar and hit the down key to get to myadsl.co.za but some friend of mine cleared it :(...
I would like to hide the clear button/history to prevent this from happening :(...

P.s. a password function to disable/enable/hide those bars would be nice :D;):cool:
 
There is an addon to edit what you see in the menus, just use this to hide the Clear Private Data button and he'll probably be confused enough to leave it alone :D

Of course he might really not want you to see what he's been up to and get desperate, might find your FF uninstalled or your harddrives ripped out when you get back.

I don't use FF anymore and only used this addon for a short while, so I can't remember it's name, hope it's not too hard to find, heres a hint https://addons.mozilla.org ;)

lol - what was your friend looking at that he thought it wise to clear the history :eek:

If I could suggest a simpler & IMO a better solution: use separate OS user accounts, e.g. in Windoze heXPee|Vista create separate [preferably Limited Use] User accounts for yourself and anyone else using the same PC, and set a password on your own user account so that only you can mess with your Fx profile's private data, also be sure to enable a screensaver that will lock your PC when the screensaver activates...
 
You could also run your own version of portable firefox that has your own settings etc.

lol I doubt he will/could rip out my hardrives, since he knows nadda about the inside of the computer but true he could uninstall firefox but I highly doubt he would be able to do so as well but I'll go for the addon suggestion :D

Thanks for the suggestion but the computer that has the internet is used by my family as well so it's just under one username :(

But, how does one then stop other users of that same Windoze user account from messing with one's own Fx profile? - even by accident of it being left open up on the screen when the fiddler seats himself down in front of the PC...
 
Also maybe a bit obvious, but are you sure that "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox" option is not ticked in the privacy settings?

Hi

I'm having a few problems with Thunderbird portable:
When I reply to emails it leaves out the from, sent, to, subject at the top of the other person's email and just puts in "??? wrote" with ??? being the other person's name.

Secondly, when I reply to emails I normally write above the the quoted email. Thunderbird has the option to put your signature above the quoted email and below what you write, but it still goes back to the recommended option that signatures will be added to the end of the email even after you have changed the setting.

I'm not sure if these problems also occur in the full version of Thunderbird, as I haven't used it.

Any tips on the above would be appreciated:)
