Stop picking on Eskom: minister

No. Fsck you.

Actually they're right, Eskom is not really at fault. Eskom warned the government years ago and begged for money to do proper maintenance and expand generation capacity. It's the inept government's fault as usual.

Its all very well to say that we must work together.
How about putting CADRE deployment aside and employ COMPETENT people to run the Parastatal organisations.
This will go a lot further in ensuring ECSUM bashing becomes less.

This is true. My 'fsck you' is aimed at the minister.

Part of the problem of centralisation. They want to control everything but are too inept to actually run it properly.

I suggest we pick on Lynne Brown instead. She looks like she could do with a bit of load shedding.

Anyone know about the 6000 Eskom employees that have accepted the package last month................

If true Lynne, how you going to replace that expertise? Sadly the Govt stuffs up everything they touch.

This is true. Many people don't realise that the problems Eskom and the country face today stem from government interventions and decisions back in the late 90' and early 2000's.

Eskom issued many warnings to government stating that the generation capacity needs to be expanded so as to facilitate sufficient maintenance on existing assets and to meet economic growth while keeping the national grid stable.

Government chose to ignore these warnings (typical short sightedness our government still suffers from today) stating that private players need to come into the market (obviously because the government was to benefit from the ensuing corruption).

More warnings were issues to deaf ears. Things got worse. And then...when brown stuff hit the fan, the government said hey Eskom, build power stations, what is wrong with you!

That's when then the media and public jumped onto the bandwagon as they always do.

Yes Eskom, isn't perfect, I am not defending them, they have their problems. But as mentioned, a lot of them stem from the government sticking their sticky fingers into everything.

I actually feel for Eskom, they are the scape goats in this whole saga.

Well somebody really does need to be "picked on".
Everytime some disaster like this happens there virtually no consequences for the management (Government or Eskom) .
