Here is the situation, I own a Huawei Watch 2, purchased in January 2018 and still under warranty. About 3 weeks ago i brought my watch in for repairs as the watch band kept jumping out of the watch. It was found after inspection that there was a slight crack on the housing of the watch which allowed the strap to come free.

Now here is the problem, the store says that physical damage is not covered under warranty, i am happy to accept. However, this to me looks like a factory fault on the watch as this watch was not dropped or damaged in any way by myself. The watch has no scuff marks or scratches to even suggest that i may have caused this crack to form on the housing of the watch. I was quoted by the store for a new watch as Huawei does not carry out any repairs to watches. The price is more than i paid for it over 16 months ago.

1. The watch housing cracked not due to any fault of mine, Huawei claims physical damage and will not cover it under warranty.
2. Since Huawei wont cover it under warranty, i would like to repair the watch at my expense, unfortunately Huawei does not fix or repair watches.

This means i am forced to purchase a new watch which i really cannot afford at this present time on an inferior product.

Current owner of a Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Huawei Watch 2. Why i mention this, is for Huawei South Africa to know that they will loosing a valuable client, knowing Huawei's troubled future to come.

Can you not take it to a Jewelry Store or Watch Maker and ask if they can fix the casing?

Alternatively :p

hahaha that was probably going to be my next option however i am concerned if i do pick up any software or hardware issues my warranty will be affected.

And no the band only started coming loose after 15 months, i feel maybe it was a poor design of the housing. As it is quite thin in that particular area, and you can only see that since the crack had formed.

Well the warranty hasn't meant much up to now, has it? And you are already in for a new watch if you don't at least try to fix it yourself or have it fixed by a jewelry store. Warranty is over in 6months anyway, right?

I can understand their decision that warranty will not cover that type of repair after 15 months of seemingly no problems. Especially knowing what my 2 x Garmin watches have gone through. And even they have no visible scuff marks or signs of abuse. But I know they have taken some knocks and been in some pressure situations.

But that being said. It is also poor of them not to carry out any repairs on their products even if you are willing to carry the costs.

Any update?

Been contacted by an agent, they escalating the matter. However i still feel im probably going to receive the same story that customer care gave, "your device can be requested to be packaged so you can collect it and fix it from your end "

Next best option is to Qbond this relationship with Huawei shut.

There are people who agree with you. Do not believe this shyte that wearables cannot last.
Axxess/Mtn LTE deal are also forcing Huawei routers down my throat. ZTE MF286 is the only other choice. Any feedback re the ZTE.

This. Nothing lasts forever - especially wearables. Most mobile products only have a 12 month warranty anyway.

I don't see Huawei being at fault here.

Are you saying it must only last 12 months because of the warranty?
Vaping is not good for your health.

Are we to understand you owned the watch for all that time without noticing this apparent factory defect? Almost 2 years!
I'm on Huawei's side in this silly story.

Shite breaks - it's normal. Finding someone else to blame for the shite you break though - thats not normal at all.

I'm surprised that @Huawei even gave you the time of day on this BS story

Don't really have an opinion on the warranty issue but did you pay in May-June 2018 after getting the watch in January?

It is still under warranty.

Why should they not give the time of day.

Length of time is irrelevant.

****

Apple have a similar issue now with screens cracking on their Watch Series 3. They are covering it OUTSIDE of warranty as all decent companies do.

Just because it’s a wearable doesn’t give it the right to fall apart. Especially if there is no other visible damage to indicate it was neglected.

If a person looks after their stuff it should reasonably last a great many years.
