Since I moved to Cape Town (from PE) in 1969 as a young boy, WP-Stormers were always the best supported team, until about 4 years ago, win or lose. The same with cricket, Newlands always had the best crowds. Have to say the Sharks and Bulls seem to have overtaken us on the rugby side of things. My feeling is that the administration of rugby in the Province has been really poor and this has resulted in the support issues. There are also too many political issues around selection and development which are peeing of a lot of people.
One fact is undeniable, this Province is producing the most rugby talent. My son matriculated from one of the boys schools in the Southern Suburbs last year and I have seen loads of rugby talent (and large crowds) on Saturday mornings, so the talent factory is still producing.
I reckon we should beat the Chiefs next week.

Stormers 34 v Reds 16
Surprise surprise, the boys came to town and gave the Reds a lesson. This is not to say that the Stormers will reach the top four, but could cause a few headaches along he way. Rassie is always going to get better and so is his team, and so are all the others, only time will tell. For some dreamers out there this season, completion without self destruction is high on the agenda. In the mean time Watson seems to be getting better, while Tonderai has the pace to out strip Habana, he just needs to get the ball from his centres who at the moment need to introduce themselves to each other as they seem to be playing two different games. As for the Reds, last year is coming back to haunt them and they need to get out of town and re-group to go forward. They have the players, but just seem to be faulting at the final hurdle, in this case it is too many times. Fear not the Reds have a young squad with which to build on , now may not be their moment but the future looks bright.
Sharks 22 v Blues 17
Young Keegan Daniel is going to be another Schalk Burger. His performance was by far the difference between the two sides. Young, raw and hungry talent always beats old experienced. The Sharks are the South African team to beat this year. They have one of the best coaches in the game today coupled with great players including inspirational French import, Michelak who seems to be revelling in his new team. The Sharks could just be the team to beat the Crusaders at their own game. As for the Blues…………..did they pitch up to play, I don’t think so, the surf and sun could have got the better of them after a long tour in Africa. Beware, they will be at their best come the business section of this comp.
