I have exactly the same problem since ADSL was installed in my new address. The ADSL connection is activated after about 40 seconds into a call. I use 0800375375 a lot to connect to my dialup ADSL line. The funny thing is that the Telkom(*spit*) technician removed a coil from my splitter and the line is slightly more stable (only resets 7 times a day now) and he claims to have identified a fault in the line impedance which he will fix tomorrow (hopefully).
