Suddenly the last 3 days, my PC doesnt show the initial bootup screens, ie: the DOS side before windows actually starts. In fact I thought my video card was shot or something similar.
When switching on, the screen is black, and then suddenly the windows logon/password window appears and I can login.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Someone fiddled in your bios. Some motherboards have the option for a 'quick boot' sequence that will skip alot of screens and then take you straight to the windows load screen. Other than that I dont know

I also suspected something like that.
How can I get into the BIOS without the line prompts?

When you switch on your pc immediately start pressing .Del until you get into the BIOS, some motherboards use F10, or F12

No matter how or what I try, I cant get into BIOS.
What or where else can I look to see whats wrong?

Its normally "del" or "F1" in my experience. Otherwise just take the power cord out the back of the pc. Wait a few seconds and pull out the MB battery. Wait about 10 secs, put it back in + the power cord and see if it boots / and / or get into Bios.

F1, F2, DEL, F12 and Enter all get smacked when i need to get into the Bios of a foreign computer. :p

dude, what mobo do you have? google the bios button, but unplug one monitor then you boot up again. that usually happens with my dual monitor setup, the tv picks up way before the monitor.

In the bios there is a setting to show the 'logo', it is probably showing it but can't find the logo so it is blank. If you get into the bios just reset or restore defaults. You can also try esc esc esc while booting, the 'enter bios' should be displayed at the top of the screen or at the bottom.

Remove all dust from computer. Reseat all connections and all components in case. Clear your CMOS update your BIOS with it's latest version. Unless you know what you are doing leave everything as default in the BIOS

This is the error generated in the Event Viewer.

"The Intel(R) Active Monitor service depends on the Intel(R) SMBus 2.0 Driver service which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
"

I cant see which devices it needs to be started in order for it to work properly.

I also still cannot get in BIOS settings.

I've found that if I unplug my cable from the monitor, then re-insert, it establishes a connection. I've tried a DVI cable as well as standard VGA cable.
