Strange Fan Behaviour

Hi all,

As many of you know, I built up a work PC for myself, it's so much better than what I was currently working with, but now I'm sitting with the case open trying to get the front lights working (putting the jumpers right etc)

But I'm noticing that the fan (on the heatsink) is not spinning, well, it does, like now, it's spinning as per usual, but it spins for what... 3 minute ±, stops for like 4 minutes, and spins again.

Anyone know why it's doing this?

well is the PC shutting down / over heating when the fan stops? because if it is then your fan is screwed unfortunately... or maybe installed wrong

if not then maybe it has some sort of new temperature control  which cools oddly lol

No, the PC is not shutting down etc.
As a matter of fact, I'm going to restart and just check the temp, because the PC has pretty much been on since yesterday.

UPDATE:
CPU Temp is 49 degrees
CPU Fan Speed is ± 1015RPM

I think u got "Smartfan" or something turned on. So when your pc isnt using much CPU usage it turns the fan off. My mates pc used to do the same thing.

My CPU fan used to spin like 300 RPM when I boot up the PC, that's when the temp is really low so the PWM is switching the fan on and off.

What motherboard, CPU and heatsink/fan do you have currently?

No, but I'm going to ask them when I get home, I don't expect any miracles sadly, it's HP.
