Strange Malware

Anybody that had experience with PE_PATCED.SME? I use Trend Micro as my all-inclusive protection software. It now continuously picks up this PE_PATCHED.SME and states that my explorer.exe file and winlogon.exe is infected, but cannot be resolved. Since it is running real-time protection, it continuously interrupts what I am doing on the computer. Took some time typing this. Pls help.

Reboot into safe mode and run malware bytes.

Name of all files & locations it's picking up ?

Be very careful about that winlogon file.........Will lock you out or send you into a logon logoff loop if not careful.....

Hi there, problem seems to be solved now - I ran System File Checker - had to insert my XP CD - thereafter ran Trend Micro Quick Scan and found no issues. Ran HouseCall - did pick up 2 temp files and 1 original - ran fixed it and the program indicated that it is fixed - ran Houescall again and it showed NO infections. I do hope this is the end!! PS - probably picked up the Malware during a period where my Trend Micro was not properly installed.
