I have 10mbps premium uncapped. I can have 720p/1080p streaming from multiple services like Netflix and YouTube at the same time with absolutely no hiccup/buffering but I can't stream Twitch at 360p when I am the only one using the line.

When testing on other ISPs, there is no buffering on Twitch. It seems it is only an Afrihost issue and this has been going on for a few weeks now.

For me, the point of paying for a higher speed line is for streaming and if I can't do that on Afrihost, I am going to move to another ISP.

Afriman, any plans to resolve this Twitch issue?

What account are you using?
(I'm, specifically, interested to find out whether it's a capped shaped account.)

It's a premium uncapped account. So it is, according to their site, unthrottled and semi-shaped.

As I've said multiple times before, Twitch streaming is totally dependent on the ISPs backend routing and backhaul.

Some people can stream perfectly on a 4meg line, while others struggle on a 100meg line.

Try a few different ISPs.

Yeah. Having the same issue with other streaming services as well today. Thoroughly annoying. Netflix and Youtube seems fine, but the rest seems to be terrible at the moment.

Twitch.tv was streaming pretty decently for me, for most of the weekend, so we definitely need to figure out why you didn't have a great experience.

Which DNS servers are you using at the moment?

Currently on a 20mb VDSL line with 300GB capped account.I have exactly the same problem with Twitch.tv. I can stream League of Legends LCS perfectly live from youtube but on twitch.tv can hardly get 360p.

It has been like this for some time now and getting rather annoyed by this. Using the Afrihost DNS and even changed routers with the same results.

It is much worse at night as well than during the day.

Sorry to hear that. :( What DNS settings are you using at the moment?

Download Streamlink and Streamlink Twitch GUI.

Once both are installed open Streamlink Twitch GUI - Settings - Enable advanced settings.

Now go to the third tab, it should be called Streamlink, set the stream type to rtmp and HLS segments to 10.

Yeah, my streaming on Twitch has been horrible. Also on an AW unshapped capped account 40mbps VDSL.

I've decided today that I'm jumping ship. Just doing some research first.

Really sorry to hear that you're considering moving away from us. :( The reason for these forums is to give clients a platform to give us feedback and for us to improve everyone's experience. I can assure you that we take all feedback into account and report it to our Network Team. :) In what part of the country are you based?
