I've been at my current job (my first ever job after campus actually) for about 1.5 years and for the first 1.3 or years of that, it was great. Work wasn't the greatest but I had an absolutely awesome boss (who left a couple of months ago), a great team, top working environment etc.

TBH, not much has changed except that my new boss seems to pass the burden of new projects onto me and my colleagues which my previous boss didn't do...he used to sit with and share the burden and made sure he was actively involved in all the work we do.

Now I'm 23 and I was shocked to discover my first couple of grey hairs pop up.

Lately, I've really been feeling the pressure of work, spending tons of time in traffic (PTA to JHB every day :() and also having to study for an exam that's about 5 weeks away. I never have energy, always seem to have a constant headache and my eyes feel heavy throughout the day.

I created this thread to get some opinions from people...is this normal stress? I mean, do people feel like crap as soon as they get home or do you guys still have energy to do stuff after work?

What level of stress do you guys suffer from? It'll probably make me feel better by just knowing I'm not alone in the stress boat so let's hear it...how stressful is your life?

abnormal low levels here, other people stress for me, its a family thing, one side suffers from depression while you can drop a bomb next to the other, we just don't feel stress unless its in a real life threatening situation,

I am not sure if there is even a condition for it.

Low levels of stress here, spiking when something goes pearshaped, but I try to remain calm throughout the situation.

Going on 40 and already have a couple of grey hairs.

Problem is it (stress) is/has accumilative effects leading to more stress and the circle continues. You need a break or some medication to break the cycle.
Grey hair does not mean consequences to stress per se', ignore it. Thats maturity coming through? :D

The headache is your body telling you there is an issue.
Energy loss, check your diet, fluid supplements and eating patterns.
Sleeping is important, not long just short deep sleeping spells would suffice to keep you refreshed.

I am oldish and still can manage with little sleep.

Stress, stressed? YES! but I have grown blunt for it. Cannot be bothered anymore. No more nerves, just accept and carry on. If stress makes you nervous then its becoming bad.

Did you have flu recently? Check with your pharmacist. I few years back I had a very similar spell. Tired, uninterested, constant headache, head feeling groggy, just not right. Went to my pharmacist and told him my story (That was after prescribed Dr's meds were used up) and he suggested I may have a sinus congestion/problem. Gave me a tablets called Merc Fed. A few days and I felt my old self again. We still use those to today in the family when I or someone feel about the same symptoms.

Was there a specific reason why you quoted his entire post in your reply?
;)

Be careful that you are not suffering from burnout or mild depression brought on by the fact that you are not happy at work. I have some huge stress; but never run out of energy. Mostly because I am doing something that I have always dreamed about; and working 14 hours a day to achieve that dream is not as stressful as spending 4 hours doing something that I hate....

grey hairs are bitches - im the same age and see one or two popping out.

You need to look at this objectively. If someone is dying then you stress, the rest of it is just work/life. Grey hairs at your age is just wrong, I dont have any and I'm way older than you and probably look years younger than you although I'm older. You are ultimately responsible for your own life, you cannot blame your boss or other people.

Take a chill pill otherwise you are going to die young.

Welcome to life, dude and stress is part of it.

But its how you deal with that counts. Different things work for different people.
You just have to find you own unique way of dealing with it.

High levels of passive stress here.

+1
On my 3rd year of on-the-verge-of-burnout here. Something always happens to avoid total burnout but then I get stuck on 90% burnout again .

I need to pull a phoenix. Just need to figure out how.

Hate to tell you this, but you still young and will go through this for the rest of your working life... traffic, bosses taking advantage of you, crappy attitudes from colleagues, you have to find a way to deal with it.

I just packed up and left, tired of being taking advantage of!:)
