Stronger wifi reception

I have a wifi modem at home. How can I improve the reception strenght of my laptop? I have a Linksys wireless router. Will that help at all and if so how do I set it up?

If it has detachable antennas you can try a stronger gain antenna.

By Linksys, do you mean old faithful? If so, 2 things:
- alternate firmware, and
- add-on antenna love.

i use wokfi. google it. it looks terrible, but cost me aound R70 to build myself. boosted my reception from 13% to 38%. no kidding.
