Hi,

So I live in a suburb called Sonnedal. Its just off Beyers Naude but a bit out there and I have trees for days. I had Bitco come do a site survey and apparently trees kill Wifi options (Amobia said they don't cover my area and they didn't seem at all interested in doing so in the future either). So are there any other providers in my area? I am really not wanting to go for a 3g option once my MTN uncapped lite package finishes in a couple of weeks.

As I mentioned I have trees blocking my view towards honeydew but I should be able to get some signal towards Mulderdrift. Telkom won't install a line for adsl due to copper theft in the area.

Anybody have any kind of answer? What are the chances of becoming a "hot spot" for those other people not quite in the suburbs?

Thanks,

Crump

AFAIK Amobia have a high site on top of the Northcliff water tower, don't you have line of sight to that?

Apparently not... I did contact them and they had such a bad attitude about it the whole process. Also Northcliff is a bit far from me. Like a 15 minute drive isnt that going to be too far?

Take a look on their website, they got coverage maps there, iirc they using 5Ghz which is best for range

Hi Segg,

I spoke to Amobia and they said I will not have coverage. I asked if they could do a signal test etc and they said no I am not in a coverage area. So Amobia is out as far as I am concerned. Bitco were helful and they came through and tested but trees got in the way of signal.
