JOHANNESBURG - The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) says preliminary investigations into an arson attack at one of its residences have pointed to a few students.
Early this morning, a student residence was set alight at the Pietermaritzburg campus, as protesting students continue to call for a complete shutdown of the university, demanding no fee increases.
The university says the academic programme will continue as normal, despite reports of intimidation and threats from non-protesting students.
Some students allege they've received threats to join the protests or risk being "dealt with".
UKZN spokesperson Lesiba Seshoka says they have information on who orchestrated the fire.
"Some suspects have been identified and they'll probably be arrested today."
Protests at the university have now entered a second week.
