Students run racist Facebook

Ok i havent read all these posts. I am not white and i still think that freedom of speech trumps all this BS racism so these kids can say what the hell they want. They wanna arrest them for forcing a black kid on the ground and sticking a gun to his head ( which i doubt they did) they can, but u can do anything about them putting up a racist page!

I don't think this is even news worthy. SA currently has so many problems facing it and we are focusing on the wrong things.

Its a never ending cycle. Any progress that is made to oust racism is lost cos of idiots like this.

WAKE UP!!! nothing will be solved through racism!!

Didnt the ANC Youth League say something along similar lines a while back. Infact they got a history of making outlandish statments along racist lines. And they are leading the country. Yet they seem to get away with it. Lest they post it on Facebook!

All the other newspapers are now taking up the "story". Racism and other "isms" for that matter, are everywhere. We have a bigger problem with nepotism in this country, than racism, IMHO.

Just to add another "ism" to the thread, I don't think nepotism is our biggest problem, I happen to think it's cronyism.

Nepotism is relatively old, except these days, in companies that were started up as one-man-shows it is very common. But you're right, the correct term is cronyism, when it applies to government because they are organizing positions of power for friends, mostly.

Isn't that the meaning of nepotism?
nepotism [nep-a-tiz-zum]
Noun
favouritism shown to relatives and friends by those with power

Basically the same I think, but then, what do I know about English :p

Whats scary is that it's young people doing this...and young folk don't just dream up this stuff.

But what's good to see is when you walk through malls, visit rugby festivals, go to school plays, on the beaches and during school holidays tomorrow's generation isn't as caught up in the race trap as their elders. My 4 year old God daughter is from a bi-racial relationship, black mom, white dad...and she's colourblind.

I'm not white and I know that the bat swings both ways. Some of the things our current crop of leaders say sometimes makes me cringe but I guess its the birth pains of a country trying to find itself again.

I am not a racist i have black mates colored mates and asian mates but i got a question!

Why if i use a word such as K***r its the hugest issue but for a black person to call me umlungu(Roughly translated to : white filth of the sea) is perfectly normal and not looked down upon ?
