For the past week I've been trying to get a VC Business Call contract to get my hands on one of the last iPhone 3G 8GB’s… And it was a MISSION!!!
Most VC shops said it was discontinued! But after finally finding a shop with stock (Chatz Soweto) did the real trouble start!
I have 3 lines already under my name (mine, the GF and one that I got an Aspire One in Jan.) 1st that was a problem, but last year I had 5 lines? So the next track was to say there’s a new thing that you have to wait 3 months between contracts, which ruled me out. But 2 of the 3 contracts expire within 4 months! But most of the shops didn’t want to help, but after sending out a few e-mails, did I get somebody that approved the contract! SO it can be done! (I’ve asked Vodacom3G for help as well – maybe he sorted me out!) So if anybody tells you’ll the 3 month/3 line story – it ain’t true!
But then the iPhone 8GB sold out at Chatz, so I did the phone all the shops on VC’s list thing again - Dion Centurion/Kollonade still had stock! So I had it!
And then I had to pay R99 for a sim card! R99 for a 49c card! So I went next door to PnP, bought a sim, activated it, and saved R98.51!
And lastly – maybe I should’ve waited for the 16GB iPhone to be discontinued before getting one on contract? Coz they’ll want to firesale those as well? Especially if Apple launches 32GB and 64GB 800*480 iPhones in June?
