Hi Guys

Just wanted to know if anybody tried playing BF2 via 3G/HSDPA

Reason I'm asking is i heard it eats your allocation of 1GB - example- in no time @ all.
If it works for the above i'll be able to play non-stop.
 
BF2 uses 60-100MB an hour.

We have IBurst users playing, but sometimes their connection just sucks and they drop like flies.

Your best bet is to try it in your area, cos it's going to differ from area to area and different times of the day will also affect the network.

So i assume 3G/HSDPA should work then, if Iburst is working.... I don't want to spend the money and then have to have ADSL installed just to play it ....
 
I've played on HSDPA with an average ping of 120 - 140 ms. That was great! Only problem is the amount of bandwidth that the game use. Also, don't expect you will have a smooth game every evening, since the connection does go up and down a bit at times.

Id be weary of the ping spikes though, wireless can sometimes be very spikey and causes great distress in-game :eek:
 
I've tried BF2142 tonight on HSDPA. After 22:00 my ping averaged around 112 - 140. I saw it once on 156ms. Never tried before 22:00 because the network is usually a bit crappy before 22:00.

However, make sure you have good coverage! My router is placed so that I have Excellent signal! This will really influence how it performs as well as lots of other factors.

No Problem!

I have to note though, that your experience will be better with ADSL. Only reason why I occasionally play on HSDPA is because we have NO Telephone lines in my area.......

I Hear you ... I don't pay for my GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA connections thoug
that's why i'll go with that rather... Thanx for your help... will see you guys ingame soon.
