Stupid Tracker

Imagine if armed response was the same... 10 hours later - we didn't come because you pushed the button twice

Complete bollocks that multiple presses "jammed" the alert and delayed it getting into the stack... they were just useless.

Read you contract, is there no obligation for them to respond within a certain time?

If so take them to court.
If not cancel your contract.

I am looking forward to their responses today, I have escalated the matter to their senior management who are investigating.

What really gets to me is that they refuse to acknowledge they messed up, or that they have a problem.

Thank you everyone, at least I know I am not being unreasonable here.

An "Assistance" button, by implication means that you need assistance - NOW - not in 10 hours time - this whole thing is bollocks!

We had all of our company cars with Netstar until last year when we had to shift to Tracker - what a bloody horrible crowd to deal with! It takes between 2 and 3 days for them to fit a system to a car, then when we sell our demo vehicles and have to have the Tracker removed - it is also a two to three day process involving phone calls between here and head office, order numbers and godknows what else.

I certainly would not recommend them!

I would recommend Cartrack...have had a unit installed for a few years now.

Once the battery connector came off the terminal and within 1min they phoned and asked if everything was okay and if assistance is required, flip the car hadn't had a chance to cut out yet :)

And it took them a few hours to fit the device.

Tracker handed me over to lawyers for not paying.... even when I was.

After much hassle getting them off my back, I cancelled - the unit is still in my Hilux somewhere.

I'd be livid to be honest. I simply would not stand for that type of service. How do you trust that they would be at your aid, should you need it in an emergency and for them not to have a "stack late" type of jam again because the button wasn't pressed correctly?

I would make a massive fuss about this.

Let us know the outcome.

So, a manager from tracker (Elma) called me. She admitted that there was a network failure at the time of the accident which caused the messages to be queued.

Being in IT, I know stuff breaks, it happens. I do however question the Disaster Recovery procedures in place for when something like this happens. It could be the failure was localized to a certain cell tower, in which case it can take longer to fix, and in that scenario is was bad luck that I was in the wrong cell tower at the wrong time.

What they also mentioned to me is that if tracker pick up repeated button presses over a short period of time, the system assumes there is a fault in the unit, however there will still be a phone call to confirm there is no emergency and that their is a possible problem with the unit.

Overall, although my query has been addressed, I still feel extremely let down by Tracker and am looking at Matrix, who have a Crash Alert System (although they could suffer from the same failure)...

Oi Vei - Let down by technology...

Matrix used to wake me up at 2am frequently - when the unit battery was going flat :p

Only issue I had with them was lack of response to emails, and when they wanted to replace the battery they couldn't find the unit, almost stripped my entire car.

I would almost see the "cant find unit" as a plus :)

The problem with the tracker skytrax unit is that the panic button appears to be hard wired into the unit, so simply following the wires will lead you directly to where the unit is installed.

That alone would be a deal breaker for me. What's the point then? You leaving "bread crumbs" for the thief to find the unit and remove it.

To be honest I'm (or rather my wife) is using Tracker and we've never had any issues at all.

Installations to all vehicles were done on the same day I applied.
We get a call as soon as any vehicle moves into a "no go" area.
And we get notifications so often that I bought a cheap k.ak phone specifically for receiving calls and sms's from them

So ja, maybe I'm lucky :)
