Hi all

Has anyone here had a stye lanced by an ophthalmologist? If so, how does it take to heal and is it very painful?

if they do not "heal" on their own, a local anaesthetic will be used & a tiny incision made.
the procedure will be over very quickly, faster than you would imagine.

I've pricked them with a sterilised pin before, the pressure build up is enough to get the crap out followed by a squeeze. The squeeze can be a bit sore and make you tear up but it's over very quickly. Swelling subsides quickly and healing is very fast.

Any side effects after the procedure like swelling and vision issues?

a friend had it done, after the procedure there was no swelling, fully healed within 2 days.
there is no impact on vision, the stye is on the eye lid - not the eye itself.

the "lancing" is literally a prick with a scalpel, not actual cutting

Friend had a sty removed,...he waited so long that the mass, solidified....incision was made...pop went the weasel...mass was removed....no stitches were required...healed up, in no time..
