9 Abarths, they about R500k a pop? interesting

Abarths start at 250 odd - the one for 597 000 is the 695 Tributo Ferrari - different story.

So glad to see this.

Agreed - Chinese rubbish should be banned from the roads until they start building products that are actually built with some integrity and commitment to producing the best cars that they can - from every aspect from safety to keeping up with modern technology.

Ha! So now I know who almost smacked me up the backside when I turned in to work today!! ;)

Subaru is a low number import model - and we sell between 9 and 12 units per dealership per month, and there are 10 dealerships in the country.

You will NEVER see many on the road, because we don't import enough to make them high visibility. It has absolutely nothing to do with popularity and everything to do with supply.

In the world market, Subaru SA is a drop in the ocean, and the number of cars that we get, reflects that. :)

So are you saying that there is demand, but the supply is the constraint?

I think also the price. I just hopped onto the Subaru site. The WRX STI starts at R599 000 or close to it. It's pretty crazy.

Yes, there has always been a demand - and please remember that the Subaru range is much larger than the WRX/STi - we sell maybe 1 or 2 a month of those countrywide. The Forester and XV are our biggest sellers, and we are currently sitting in a zero stock position with XV and a handful of Foresters and Outbacks left, No STi's and 3 WRX. We sell whatever we can get.

Yup, I agree, I don't think any car is worth that sort of money, but people are still buying them - and we have run out of current stock. The new shape is being released in May, and we are taking orders. :)

Not as crazy as forking out R500,000 for a Golf. I'd take the Scooby any day...

I disagree. There are cars worth that sort of money, but for your average Joe that price is quite a bit out of their income bracket. If I had the money, I would buy the WRX STI simply to be able to grin as I hear the engine swing into life and hear the growl it produces.

You have my vote on that. No ways could I pay half a bar for a Golf. That being said if I really wanted to get the kicks out of going insanely quick at a reasonable price I'd probably buy a BMW S1000RR.

I saw a WRX lunch time, at PNP Hyper. It does bring a grin to the face. :)

Instead of trying to rear end me in the traffic, come in and I will take you for a drive in our WRX, and see if we can make that smile wider? :p

I know it wasn't me. I was in the 2nd lane from the right, just passing McDonalds, when I saw you turn in. I might just take you up on the drive next week. Just won't be able to afford it though.

No sweat - just make sure you ask for me and not one of the others..;)
