"Subscribe to GPRS first" while dialing up via Manual Dial-Up using Bluetooth

I cant remember which thread it was, but ic and v3g was talking about how easy it is to create manual dial-up connections.

Fact is, it is easy, but for some reason lately with Bluetooth, it just doesnt want to work.

Customers comes to me, with Bluetooth Dongle and Phone. I pair the device with the laptop, and the software usually creates the "Bluetooth DUN Connection" automatically.

Upon connecting, the phone attempts to make a connection, then fails, saying "Subscribe to GPRS first". I go online via the phone browser and it works. Everything is right with the settings.

The bluetooth software culprit is BlueSoleil. I dunno why, but it just doesnt seem to work, and nothing is out of place.

What i dont is, as soon as i install the Phone Software, and create the dial-up connection from there, then it works all of a sudden.

And the above mentioned is not applicable to the Nokia Range, because for some reason BlueSoleil doesnt install the the Bluetooth Modem for the phone. I even tried manually installing the Bluetooth Modem, and it didnt work either.

I even tried adding the Extra Initialisation String, but that didnt work either.

So far i got it work with Sony Ericsson (after an hour and a half of sukkeling my gat off, and this WITH the software).

I dont know what gives. I can get it working with any other Bluetooth Software, but not BlueSoleil for some reason. Or maybe i just dont know how to work the Software...

Bluetooth is a pain in the rear end, and not very useful for getting full HSDPA speeds, best to use a cable - at least to start with and then hack your way through bluetooth specifics later on.

Your error is because of incorrect dial-up settings.

If your phone is a Nokia, connect to the internet initially using Nokia PC-Suite's "Connect to the Internet" option. Select the appropriate operator at the "Settings" screen and connect. PC-Suite automatically creates a dial up connection with the correct settings which you can use subsequently.

If my friggin Vista didn't hang at the Security Properties screen, I would have posted what the security setting should be to connect successfully via a mobile phone.

Read my post again. I doesnt even work with PC Suite. No Bluetooth Modems get installed, and installing it manually doesnt work either, PC Suite just says "No modem found" and when you go to select the modem, the drop down box is greyed out.

And the settings are correct.

Try get a copy of bluesoleil. I use that for bluetooth connections to pc and it works sharp

Its exactly BlueSoleil thats giving the problem. Data Transfer and everything is fine.

It even goes up to the point where on the phone it says "Creating GPRS Connection", but then it fails. (NOTE): The phone can access the internet.

Maybe an issue with permissions in Windoze? - unless you're already logged on with administrative privileges.

Logged on Admin. Like i said, as soon as i use a cable(on the same laptop), it works 100%.
