1. Effective August 2015. I assume it's today.

2. When I clicked on the link, I received a warning not to click on strange links. As this was an odd URL, I cancelled my actions.

3. What does a new equipment supplier Cell C is involved in have to do with my subscriber agreement?

4. What is this subscriber agreement to which is referred?

5. Is the link safe?

Here's the text from that link (URL shortened from http://m.cellc.co.za/individual-subscriber-agreement-changes/):
IMPORTANT NOTICE ON CHANGES AND AMENDMENTS TO YOUR INDIVIDUAL SUBSCRIBER AGREEMENT

Dear Cell C Customer,

We are pleased to announce that Cell C has teamed-up with an equipment supplier, Communications Equipment Company (CEC), who, until further notice, will be providing equipment and devices to our Cell C customers going forward. This will ensure that we continue to offer our customers the most advanced and up-to-date equipment and devices at great value.

In order to give effect to this exciting new commercial relationship and to reflect this relationship in the Subscriber Agreement, we are required to make changes and amendments to your Subscriber Agreement. Going forward, CEC will be a party to your existing Subscriber Agreement, ensuring a more effective relationship between equipment supplier, service provider and you. In addition, certain of Cell C’s rights and obligations will be transferred to CEC with effect from August 2015.

This transfer will be a seamless process. Changes and amendments will not have any impact on our current service offerings to you and equipment will still be available and distributed by Cell C. In addition, you will still address all payments, queries, concerns, disputes and communication in respect of your Subscriber Agreement to Cell C directly. All communication, in respect of your Subscriber Agreement, services and equipment will continue to be sent by Cell C.

The changes and amendments to your existing Subscriber Agreement can be viewed by clicking here or on our website at www.cellc.co.za. Should you have any queries in respect of the above, please contact us on 140 (free from your Cell C cellphone) or 084 140 (standard rates from any other provider).

Cell C looks forward to your continued support as we strive to provide our customers with dynamic and innovative services and products.

Kind regards,
Cell C Service Provider Company Proprietary Limited

Hi McT

This new equipment supplier will ensure customers have access to a wider range of devices, bundled with voice and data services at very competitive prices. While this will result in changes to the current Subscriber Agreement, there will be no material or package change to customers.

Previously customers' device remained the property of Cell C until it was paid up. Now going forward it will be the property of the Communications Equipment Company (CEC). Cell C will transfer ownership of all its existing devices linked to Cell C voice and data contracts to CEC. CEC will also be the owner of new voice and data devices signed by customers in new contracts.

Regards

Thank you for the information @ginggs & @Cell_C.

If I buy my own device/handset, it seems that there is no effect or relevance to me then?

When can the wider range of devices be expected to be available on the Cell C network?
I know of a few people that have opted to port to other networks due to the non-availability of certain devices.
