I just received an SMS from +27820070054 saying "Subscriber Details have been updated".

This looks like a security message that some companies send out when you update your details on-line. Only I haven't updated any details with anybody. Also, the only people that call me a "subscriber" are Vodacom and DSTV.

I can't reach customer care.

V3G, does this SMS come from Vodacom? Otherwise, who does it come from?

I checked and it seems you updated your profile to identify yourself as older than 18 to buy some adult content, thus the SMS.

Just joking! :D

I've asked for this to be checked out and will revert soonest.

sun, please PM me your contact details + e-mail addy.

hehe, Sun I think you need to try Google instead of Vlive for adult content ;)

sun, was indeed from Vodacom and a legitimate change of some details. Sounds like a branch code changed. Have a look at the mail sent to you.

But I agree, receiving one of these out of the blue is quite unsettling.

Last year I received an SMS welcoming me to the network - about ten years too late :D Turns out another SIM card was mistakenly linked to mine. I started receiving the other person's SMS's and calls. The other SIM card was deleted (maybe because the other person cancelled their contract) and because this card was linked to mine they deleted my SIM card as well  !

This happened over christmas and apparently because they only had a skeleton staff (skeletons don't have brains, do they?) working it took a few days to get the mess sorted out. Luckily everything was sorted on 31 Dec.
