Hello ,

My clients name is initials with a & in between them. Like for example T&R auto. Now I dont like the URL tandrauto.co.za , it makes little sense and looks wrong , any ideas for substitutes ? what are my options ?

I'd ask the client their opinion. Most of the time they like what you would never like. Don't know why, but that's how it is :)

or just trauto?

Its easier for visitors if they can type it out as they say it. It gets really funny if there are strange characters in the url and you trying to explain that over the phone. You said "and"... noo.. I meant &, the thingy mabob thats called an ampersand :D

I did , they did not like t-rauto or tnrauto, look at the end of the day I am not that worried as its not my job to get their name right and I also cannot help if you cannot use a & sign in the URL. I just create and design , they provide the info but I thought I would assist.

Unfortunately characters like '@', '$', '&" are not allowed in domain names anywhere at any registrar.

Your client, if not interested in any other variation of their name, will unfortunately not be in a position to own the domain they want then.

like I&J is just ij.co.za your client should be happy with trauto.co.za

no no no no no. You're approaching it from "these are the options, choose one you like"

I'm saying go "what do YOU want it to be?"

Small difference but BIG impact. They then have free reign to choose whatever THEY want and what they choose is normally what they like. Don't give them options. Ask them to choose a name they want and let them know & can't be in there

My last advice would be to register the .org or .net extension. They are both available for trauto.

You could do a little keyword research and come up with a name relevant to your clients area.
