Does anyone have any idea about this kind of condition? I know Google is my friend but would to hear from anyone with first hand experience and how they overcame this. I'm being driven out of my mind.

are you trying to go cold turkey and cut sugar out all together?

Hmmm, I've recently gone on a low carb diet, and gone from having a lot of sugar in the form of fruit, coffee with sugar, fruit juice, LOTS of sweets etc to pretty much nothing..... Now my only sugar intake is coffee max 3 times a week, some yoghurt from time to time and fruit as a snack every now and then eg strawberries after my supper tonight. I also have 2 imperial mints in the morning(because i have a milky based drink in the morning, long story)..

I didn't really go through withdrawal, just put ur mind to it...

Yes. I'm using canderel for everything when I need sugar. Went to 3 Doctors over 2 years complaining about the symptoms those A55H#$%S sent me for blood tests and couldn't find anything to explain what I was going thru. I gave up on them and the other day while browsing on the internet I came across this sugar withdrawal symptoms describing exactly what I've been experiencing. Just wanted to know before I go back to the Doc's if the symptoms can be so severe. Do I need any medication for this?

Its all in your head. I've done that plenty of times.

You just need to focus on something else. Its like staring at a slab of chocolate...you're going to cave sooner or later - so best to avoid a situation where you're staring at chocolates. ;)

I agree bu for some people it's impossible.. I've got pretty good self control though, and although I'm not trying to avoid sugar, by being low carb I kinda indirectly have to avoid it! From being someone who loves sweets etc I'm already used to it and I've been only doing it for a month.. Already 6KG down, but hit a bit of a patue, that being said I'm close to my target weight, ideally want to get down to 68 so I can float between 68-70... Currently limiting my carbs to max 100pd and will then go to 150 pd once I reach my weight. I still eat as I want but if I eat sugar that means like no other carbs for the day etc..

If I may ask @ OP why are u going off sugar?

That's what I thought at first but after all the headaches, being lightheaded, irritability, feeling like you drunk, feeling like you don't have any energy to do anything even too much bright light, not being able to concentrate and the eventual depression. Not very nice. Now that I have at last kind of figured out what's going on I eat fruit like pineapple when I feel my mood changing.

Why u going off sugar if I may ask!

why else - overweight. I do a 20km run daily but have been put off by the way my bodies sugar addiction affects me

Just trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Just refined sugar though. I still use artificial with very low calories and obviously fruit. I read that normal sugar alters the bodies metabolism and instead of the body burning off excess fat for energy it uses ones sugar thereby causing cravings.

Oh okay, well if I can get you to read something go sign up for a newsletter at marks daily apple. It's very interesting, it's about low carbing, he sends you a newsletter, 1 a day, for a week! If you do get interested in what he has to say I can send u his full ebook! I read it in a day..

As I said above I've lost 6KG in +-25days, and ALL I've done is limit my carbs between 80-100grams per day.. Ive done zero exercise, but I will get back on my mountain bike in summer, just to cold for me at the moment! Once you go into maintanence you can up your carbs to 150per day! The cool thing about it is you can choose how to use your carbs, for instance if I know I'm going to movies I will have zero carbs at breakfast and lunch so I can have corn and slush! ;)

breakfast - weetbix
mid morning - 2 slices buttered toast, apple, tea
lunch - noodles & lots water
mid afternoon - fruit, tea
supper - veggies, skinless chicken or steak grilled, mushrooms & lots of water maybe just boiled eggs & potatoes

holy crap

no wonder you're light headed...

you need to up your proteins and fats intake, looks like you've put yourself into starvation mode

Fruit.

It has sugar and it's good for you, don't believe this BS that fruit will make you fat. Perhaps fruit juice yes because the pulp/fibers and what not has been removed so the sugar uptake is higher than eating the fruit but add as much fruit to your diet as possible.

They reckon you should eat 5 different fruits a day. You could also be suffering from a bad carb withdrawal but if you eat stuff like oats and fruit you should not have a withdrawal from anything. I have no idea what your diet is but some people think cutting out sugar will solve their fat issue but it won't. Your body needs sugar for energy and it should not convert into fat unless you sit on a couch all day. You run 20km's so unless you are eating 5 chocolates, 3 bags of chips and pies i don't see why you are cutting out an energy source.

Sugar withdrawal has so many symptoms you are bound to be feeling a few of them. It's like depression, 99% of people will have some of the symptoms, does that mean they need drugs?

Read this http://www.webmd.com/diet/ss/slideshow-sugar-addiction

You do not need to go without any sort of sugar you just need to eat a good balanced diet which would include a choccie or two, chips, the odd take out. It's all about too much.

Wow my body would shut down with that diet . Replace wheat bix with oats
The bread you are eating is also going to turn into sugar

Our bodies break carbohydrates down into sugar and then burn the sugar as
So you think you are having no sugar but the bread would suggest otherwise. http://pilates.about.com/od/foodandweightloss/a/Good-Carbs-Bad-Carbs.htm

Your body seems to be telling you that you are not giving it what it needs. Seems like it's saying hey buddy you are starving me!!!!!!! Not enough fruit, where is the salad? You need to google foods that help you lose weight because you are eating none of them except apples :D. Starving your body won't lead to weight loss long term.

For lunch you really should look into a chicken/tuna salad with tomatoes, cucumber, feta, avo
For breakfast a grapefruit would be ideal along with oats/eggs. If you gonna eat bread buy whole wheat, my fav is woolies seed loaf.
