Suger consumption

You can't live without sugar...
I don't think anyone would disagree - it's almost impossible to avoid natural sugars / sugars through conversion. The point is you don't need to add sugar to anything.

BS

Have you ever heard of glycogen? Can you advise how low levels are restored in the body when there is no sugar intake?

Gluconeogenesis

And your muscles don't need glycogen anyway. And yes, you can gym all you like on ketones.

It is practically impossible to get to a zero level of sugar in your life as it is in everything.

Sugar goes under many names ...

1. Barley malt
2. Barbados sugar
3. Beet sugar
4. Brown sugar
5. Buttered syrup
6. Cane juice
7. Cane sugar
8. Caramel
9. Corn syrup
10. Corn syrup solids
11. Confectioner’s sugar
12. Carob syrup
13. Castor sugar
14. Date sugar
15. Dehydrated cane juice
16. Demerara sugar
17. Dextran
18. Dextrose
19. Diastatic malt

Muscles don't need glycogen? Jesus christ. I bet you think amino acids are over-rated too. Gluconeogenesis is not a major activity in the body and glycogen repletion will not occur from it, it only serves essentials like certain neural function. Another desk jockey who loves bacon and thinks he's got it all figured out.

I have not read this list, as I suspect you haven't, but even in skimming it I see the word "sugar" quite a few times? So sugar goes under many names, and lot of them very deceptively include the word sugar.

From your replies shusay I can see you're a ********, so I won't be commenting further.

Thank you.

Hahahaha not sure if trolling or actually an idiot;) dude this doesn't work like your body building forum, be prepared for a major internet beat down with those comments.

3, 2, 1 aaaand educate the noob...

Nope. Muscles don't need glycogen. Amino acids are vital.

Of course, being a super-clever musclehead, you know that ATP is actually the fuel muscles use, right?

Educate yourself how ketone bodies (and other fatty acids) are transformed into ATP. But it has long words in it, like "lipid", so you might want to have a dictionary on hand.

I've tried low-carb before and there was no doubt my workouts suffered, maxes were all down, stamina was inadequate.

Agree with this part...as for the rest, you mad, bro'? :p

Serious body-building definitely requires some level of carb intake. If you're looking to tone and define without bulking up then a low carb diet will suffice for your energy needs.

You need to get "low carb" fit. You don't have massive stamina from the beginning of any get-fit routine, you need to work up to it. Same when you switch to low-carb, your body needs to get used to producing ketones in the volumes you need.

I don't know if you are trying to split hairs here but if you think muscles don't need glycogen you are being willfully ignorant. It is true muscles do not need glycogen for low-intensity work, but as I said before for high intensity work it is the fuel that is used. Ketones and FFAs cannot be oxidized fast enough for activities like sprinting.

What I learned while low-carbing (I did do some research) was that ketones are not for general body use, they also tend to go toward "special case" cellular needs. Free fatty acids are what power muscles, FFAsavailable by having being liberated from storage because of calorie deficit or through digested intake.

But please, don't take my word for it, just sit on your ass and think you know everything - don't do anything silly like trying to do 4x50m sprints every morning for the next few days, just to see for yourself how awesome it feels and how fast you are with no glycogen. Just sit there and know everything.

I said SIT you fat bastard!

I too am cutting down.

One small teaspoon in each cup of coffee and thats about it. Actively trying to cut it out of everything else where possible. Drinking water instead of sweetened juices etc.

Occasionally cheat and have a Coca Cola (having an ice cold one right now:D)
