LG G2 32GB or Xperia Z1 Compact from Orange (R4300 and R3900 respectively)
For a little more you can get the G3 or the fantastic Xperia Z3 compact.

Wife has teeny, tiny hands. She first bought the Z1 Compact. Loved the phone in every respect, but the tiny screen made her a sad panda. She wanted my LG G2 so I got her the LG G3 and now she is happy as can be

This is a good opportunity to impart some wisdom. Advise her to buy a Motorola Moto G 2014 edition for R2500 from orange store, and not blow all her savings on a gadget.

It just isn't worth it for her to blow all of it on a phone.

I don't have one yet, but I second the Moto G 2nd edition dual sim from Orange. Give her some love by sponsoring a 500mb per month data sim from Afrihost (R29pm) for that second sim slot.....
