Hi all,

I've accumulated quite a number of peripheral PC devices and IP cameras that use 2-pin power packs, however they are the most cumbersome things to try and power from the available range of multi-plug strips in South Africa - the problems are:
- not all of them are the same width/depth and it makes it almost impossible to plug more than 2 devices in at the same time on most adapters/multi-plugs (too much overlap onto another socket, etc)
- some are vertical pinned and others are horizontal pinned in relation to the adapter/sockets
- most multi-plugs seem to have the 3-pin socket at an offset angle, i.e. not in line

Are there any suggestions for a multi-plug strip that can accommodate at least 5/6 of these power adapters side-by-side (want to mount it under the PC desk)
I want to try and avoid having multi-plugs plugged into multi-plugs in order to use all devices at once - a switched option per plug would also be a good feature. Also trying to avoid using 3-pin to 2-pin adapters where possible for these devices.

Looked at various PDU's as well, but they mostly seem to be for the standard 3-pin plugs...

The standard euro 2-pin plugs I have are fine and am using something like this for them:

Seen this kind of thing and looking for something similar that would tidy up the mess, however the power packs could be a problem...

Curious about this as well. I currently have a number of multiplugs with IEC14 connectors on them, with 2-pin and 3-pin plugs connected to them. Not ideal, I know.

Unfortunately, PDU's are darn expensive, and probably not really needed, tbh. Just a more flexible multiplug would be nice.

There is one of these "Apple-like" designer companies who make a multiplug where each portion flips left or right (think Snakeboard) which solves this problem all in one go.

Can't remember the bloody name though.

Thanks for the replies. Seems a few people have similar issues ;)

I've found the 3 into 1 adaptor you show is the most flexible when used with a multiplug strip, you can usually get one power pack and one standard 2 pin into them.

Yep, this is my current setup - works ok but gets messy after a while. Was looking for a multi-plug option like these adapters that had a similar kind of layout, maybe with no 3-pins at all on the front face, only a top and bottom row of well-spaced 2-pins - nothing similar found yet but will keep searching - if only they made the American strips with euro 2-pin options... would work a treat!

Here you go.

Sadly SA plugs are not an option and it's pricey.

Cheers SauRoNZA - I saw those during my searches; looked promising and thought of mailing the manufacturers, then I saw the pricing...the reviews were sadly also hit and miss on reliability

There have to be some options out there. I saw something similar to the 3x 2-pin adapter in my post above, but it seemed to have a Schuko on the front face and 2x 2-pins on the top and bottom edges - this would also work well for the brick power slabs as they would be at the top and bottom of the adapter, so you could have 2 on each adapter with a 2-pin on the Schuko... for the life of me I cannot find it again though; will keep looking.

I normally just buy a decent multi plug and separate adaptors for each device so they can go into the 3 point sockets on the multiplug.

Ive made custom cables for my notebook, but this is sealed units, buy it from the shelf kinda thing

Its not that expensive, think R25 or something

Where did you get the grey 2 prong socket (all the others are pretty common)?

In Pretoria at hardware store, then they couldn't supply me enough, so i got the dist name and number,

I see Communica sell the same, if your requirement is enough I can arrange allot for a better price

Thanks, but I only wanted about 3 or 4 to tidy my desk.

And R75 is a bit much, I would rather just use another multiplug
