Suits

Do you have different suits for business, daytime leisure, and evening leisure?

Business contact or not, same person or not, you should try to smash. A lot of us are vested in the story now and we need closure. You owe it to us as much as you owe it to yourself.
I will do so, boss.

I am semi-involved (read smashing) someone else though, but I found out she's chatting to a friend of mine. She does not know that I know or that the guy is a close friend. So I need to get rid of her first and then smash survey chick

I've got about 12 suits that I wear regularly. All pretty dark colours (black, charcoal, midnight blue, navy), some plain others with various themes of pinstripe.

Then I've also got two formal jackets (with elbow patches and everything) for less formal occasions.

And about 25 bespoke shirts (french cuff, no pockets) mostly because I hate ironing shirts when my maid is on leave over December.

Used to have to wear a suit 5 days a week (but you could drop the tie on "casual Fridays"). Now not so much.

This chick was doing surveys at PnP and I asked her to save her number on my phone. Because I was drunk, I forgot her name so couldn't find her number on my phone to call her later on. Well I lost that phone a day or two later.

Some time later I spotted her doing cashier duty at PnP Liquor. She couldn't even remember me when I asked her. So I just thought "Tsek".

I found out on the till slip what her name and surname was. I have only one contact with the name Andrea and that person works at EOH which means its a business contact that I dealt with at some stage.

Bold amd beautiful ne. Where did you post all of this?

I rent when I need a suit, including ties.

Still cheaper than owning as I've only done it four times in my life. They will bury me in one of the many offerzen t-shirts I own and crocs.

I actually want to get a tailored dinner suit as I'm going to be attending a lot of formal dinner events going forward through my Rotary club which I joined during lockdown.

Work wise, I've been looking at dressing more formal but without the tie. I'm pivoting my career more towards management and looking at returning to fintech.

My wife would love it if I wore suits to work. She complains every morning when she sees how I dress for work.

I'm looking at using https://thetuxtailor.com/

Would like recommendations for other Cape Town tailors.

I don't wear suits. Never have, never will. Don't even have a button up shirt, and totally despise the idea of men's formal wear.
Perhaps you don't have important occasions to attend

I used to get more female attention when I suit up. I am married so I don't suit up anymore except for Interviews and formal events. I have various suits but they were all purchased before COVID. Different styles and types.

Depending on the occasion, I have a upmarket suit purchased and fitted at a proper men's outfitting shop. They have subsequently closed down. Purchase a really good pair or two oxford types shoes. There is a Crocket & Jones factory shop in Epping Industria where you can pick up (at that time R2000 pair of shoes for about R500). If you going to do this do it right. Cuff links, Good Tie and a great quality shirt at a minimum. An ex colleague use to rock the 3 piece suit quite well. Ditch the "genuine leather belts", buy at least one proper belt made from animal hide.

Then the cheaper quality WW suits for more normal business meetings and stuff. These are not made from good quality fabrics. Proper suits will use natural fabrics such as wool. Cheaper suits will use polyester etc.

I avoid black suits since I am coloured, and black suits are normally worn by the appelstokkies (New Apostolics) and I dont want to get confused as one of them. And it looks like you going to a funeral.

Over the years I rocked many different coloured suits - I was quite colourful. After getting married - I went black trousers and white shirts, it was cheaper to wear week in and week out. Now I stick to dark trousers and woolworts shirts when I go to office.

I have 1 suit which I used for the interview at my current job. Banking is still formal in some places but I don't wear a suit.

Hell...I wore jeans to my sister's wedding in December. For the reception I changed out my dark blue plain jeans and formal shoes for ripped jeans and chuck Taylor's.

There is no suit occasions in my view. If I'm not welcome wearing whatever I want to then I'm happy not to go.

Got different types, different colours. I wear them based on day of the week. Will be going to Khaliques for a full two weeks worth once I’m bonus eligible.

Clearly falls under evening leisure

I just learned about day suits in the other thread. I now know that my suit style is more business so I have been committing social errors wearing it to daytime weddings.
It's a rule that's applicable to both sexes, women wearing shiny evening clothes during the day are considered to be "on duty".

But then maybe I'm old school.
