Not from the youth system but have played for barca.

You guys need to go and read up about the spanish youth system and reserve system, it will open up your eyes in regard to youth/player development.

The Uk has a pretty bad youth system hence big teams buy young players from other teams.

But I thought we were comparing youth systems?

The UK youth system in general is pretty poor. Teams like Arsenal and Chelsea and others have almost no English players in their teams. Not cool.

But you have to admit that the United youth system has been pretty good. Even if not over the last few years :o

no i never said he came up through their system

i just said he is a superstar that should get to play every game

How can you expect an 18 year old to play week in week out?
I think Wenger is taking the right aproach with him, Rafa is doing the same with Babel and he is 21. Fergie's doing it with nani aswell and the season before last o'neill did it with young. They need time to develope before they can play week in week out in the premiership.

No compared to other bigger youth system that produce players year in/out their youth system is pretty bad.

Even your most famous youth team member was first spotted by man city long before manchester united noticed him.....Giggs.

What united youth system?:)
since the early 90's they havn't actually developed anyone of note.

I simply do not agree. Remember the team of 1995/96? That was meant to 'win nowt with kids'? They won the double that year. Not bad if you ask me.

That was a decade ago, who have they developed since then?
Luke chadwick and Kieran richardson are the only ones who i can think of.

hehe, those are some bad examples right there

At least we can agree that they did well in the 90's then? :)

well nani does not get played because is no space for him at the moment

maybe this season he will play more

walcott seems more than capable of playing atleast half of the premier league games this season

maybe your right though, maybe he is not ready but his amazing goal suggests he might just be

i may be way off here but did rooney not play very often for everton when he was 17/18?

Go look in your history books, you had damn Eric Cantona in your team.

This is NOT good!!!
Ribery Confirms Nasri Move
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has all but confirmed that Marseille midfielder Samir Nasri is Arsenal-bound, and is predicting his fellow Frenchman to shine in England…

Nasri was in London recently to undergo a medical and agree a four-year deal with the Gunners, who are expected to announce the ₤11.2 million signing during the coming week.

The deal will prove something of a coup for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has been criticised for his timid approach in the transfer market over recent years.

And Ribery, who played with Nasri at Marseille before moving to Germany last summer, expects the 20-year-old to flourish at the Emirates once he comes to terms with the pace and physicality of the Premier League.

"It is good for him," Ribery told reporters at France’s training camp in Clairefontaine. "It [Arsenal] is a good club with many young people.

"But the English championship is completely different, he will have to adapt in order to impose himself.

"It is damaging to Marseille that Samir leaves - he has lived there all his life but it is important for him to see other places."

Yep think so, i was still in high school when rooney broke through, he was different though. He didn't look like a kid.
Rooney is like Messi, ***a, gerrard etc....those type of players are on another level and are usually capable of becoming regulars at a younger age. Just my oinion though.

Just out of curiosity...what wonder goal areyou refering to?

it was not a line i was making a joke with alan about the past, when he said forget about the past

so its not a united line, it was a joke for alan

Correct. But the core of the team was 'kids". Butt, the Nevilles, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham etc. I remember that season fondly :)

Yep, i remember Alan Hansen famously telling Fergie that "you cant win league titles with kids"...

That's the one. I can still hear him saying it now. I am sure he can as well :o

Same as when Keegan said he'd "love it, just LOVE it if they beat us!" and then still didn't manage to win anything vaguely good since :o

Man seriously do your homework on your team.

Keane
Cole
Pallister
May
Cantona
Irwin
Schmeichel

These were the core of your team in 96 and they were not kids.

Dude, I watched every game that they showed on TV of United that season. You mentioned 5 players - add in Neville, Giggs, Scholes, Beckham and Butt and there is the team!

Arsenals team aynt exactly kids either, it's just an expression that people use when a team has 4 or 5 young players in their first team.

No the players I quoted were your core and as I said they were not kids.So that blows your "kids" satement out the water.Cantona was the big reason they did well that season also.
