Cardiff City have confirmed Manchester United are one of three Premier League clubs that have made bids for their teenage sensation Aaron Ramsey.
The Champions League and Premier League winners have tabled an offer believed to be in the region of £5m.
FA Cup finalists Cardiff are also considering offers for Wales' Under-21 star from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, BBC Sport understands.
Ramsey, 17, has played just 22 games for Championship side Cardiff.
Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale rejected a £1m bid for Ramsey from Everton and Arsenal last summer despite the highly-rated teenager playing just 90 seconds of first-team football.
Sir Alex Ferguson has kept a close eye on the young prodigy since Ramsey, the most wanted man outside the Premier League, broke into the Cardiff first-team this season.
Suggestions are that the Manchester United manager would loan Ramsey back to The Bluebirds next season so the player known as 'Rambo' could gain vital first-team experience.
Cardiff boss Dave Jones and Ridsdale have already met Ferguson when Cardiff's management team travelled to Barcelona before United's Champions League semi-final in April.
Sir Alex has already done a deal with Jones this summer when Cardiff signed United's reserve team goalkeeper Tom Heaton on a season-long loan.
Cardiff, though, value Ramsey much higher than £5m on offer as the club hope he could become their first £10m player with various add-ons and bonuses.
Uncapped Ramsey was included in John Toshack's full Wales squad for last week's friendly double-header against Iceland and The Netherlands but did not feature.
Ramsey is touted as Ryan Giggs' heir apparent in the Wales side and the Caerphilly-born Welsh speaker could now follow his idol and fellow countryman at Old Trafford.
Wales youth guru Brian Flynn has hailed Ramsey as "sensational."
Flynn told BBC Sport last week: "He has everything - temperament, attitude, ability and work-ethic - to be a top Premier League and international player for the next 15 years.
"No wonder Sir Alex Ferguson likes the look of him, he's a special talent."
Cardiff have a long-standing debt of approximately £31m and Ridsdale has admitted all of his stars, including Ramsey and star midfielder Joe Ledley, are available "at the right price."
Manchester United are one of two top Premier League clubs to have had offers accepted by Cardiff City for Welsh teenage sensation Aaron Ramsey.
The Champions League winners have announced an offer has been accepted, believed to be about £5m to £6m .
But another top club has joined the bidding battle and the BBC understands Arsenal have had an offer accepted.
Cardiff insist no deal has been struck and the 17-year-old will ultimately decide on his chosen destination.
A statement on United's official website confirmed: "Manchester United is delighted to announce it has agreed terms with Cardiff City for the transfer of Aaron Ramsey subject to terms being agreed and the player passing a medical."
But a statement from FA Cup finalists Cardiff said: "We can confirm that on 3 June the club has received formal bids from three top Premier League teams for Aaron Ramsey.
"And Aaron has been given permission to speak to two of these teams.
"One of these teams is Manchester United though at this stage we can confirm that no deal has been done and the player has not yet agreed terms."

It will be the second deal struck between the two clubs this summer when Cardiff signed United's reserve team goalkeeper Tom Heaton on a season-long loan.

im not sure why your going to laugh
players come and go
dont understand why your going to laugh so load if he gets tranferred
you must have some strange sense of humour if thats what makes you laugh loud
yikes
nobody has said he wont leave
united boys have just said he might not go
plz show me where the united boys are saying he wont leave
if he choose's to leave then he goes
i would leave the best club in the world if i just had the season of my life
new challenges is maybe what ronaldo is after
its something different, maybe he wants something different and its moving to spain, who says he does not replicate this season and move to italy in 2 years? then you will have to laugh loud again at a player moving clubs (strange BTW)
is it so hard to believe that he might want to show his genius in another country
have u ever thought the only club prepared to pay for 100m is real madrid?
if he wants to leave he only has one choice as nobody will pay 100m other than real madrid
so if he leaves which im thinking he is going to, its a win win for united
100m and if he stays we keep the best player on the planet
100m is alot of money, so the only winners in this whole thing are united
12m bought sold for 100m
show me a football club who has generated so much money, remember united are partly the reason he is so good
they took his raw talent and helped him become a legend
hahahahahahahahahah ronaldo may leave united
bwhahahahahahahahahahahahah

yeah his attitude and behaviour is pathetic, but his skill is unmatched at the moment, 40 goals from midfield... but he has no 'class'

His attitude and behaviour is REALLY pathetic!!! Have you noticed when he misses, he looks at the cameras almost to tell himself, ''how could I!!!!!! miss''
yeah or when he gets fouled and he slams the ground with his fists...
We've got Eboue who behaves the exact same way, but he contributes nothing to the team..
I got a mate who met Eboue and Van Persie. His sister works for Van Persie.
Naaa, Eboue doenst come close to Ronaldo.
When he dives and the foul isnt given he throws his hands in the air, almost to say ''HOW CAN THEY NOT GIVE ME OF ALL PEOPLE THAT FOUL!!!!!''
I really dislike him! I actually never used to like him when he was playing for Sporting already.
