Milan are well known to be in the market for a top class centre forward, and a couple of weeks ago Coach Carlo Ancelotti announced that the club would be signing one out of Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Adebayor or Amauri.
With the latter having since joined Juventus, only three of these possibilities remain, and according to sources in Italy, it is Adebayor who will be filling the gap in the Rossoneri frontline.
Adebayor has come to an agreement over personal terms to join the Diavoli, and all that is required to complete the deal is for Milan to meet Arsenal’s asking price, which is set at a cool €40m.
Silvio Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani would ideally like to lower this price, but are prepared to break the bank having recently vowed to spend big this summer.
Only a few days ago, Adebayor vowed to stay at Arsenal.
“I came to Arsenal with a mission to succeed," he explained.
"I’ve assured the gaffer Arsène Wenger I’ll stay because I believe in the team and I want to assure the fans my concentration is here. I have no reason to leave so I’ll stay to ensure that together we’ll win silverware."
Mathieu Flamini has already joined Milan on a free transfer this summer, while Aliaksandr Hleb seems almost certain to follow him out of the exit door. If Adebayor were to leave too, it would certainly be an almost irreparable blow to Arsenal ahead of the 2008/09 season.
Dos Santos: I Will Play For Tottenham Next Season
The 19-year-old told reporters after a friendly between Argentina and Mexico that he had agreed to move to White Hart Lane and had turned down Manchester City.
Barcelona and Tottenham have agreed an initial fee of just €6m for the player that was considered to be one of the hottest prospects at Camp Nou just two years ago.
That figure may rise to €10m depending on clauses being activated in his contract, but the news will be a huge boost for the north London club and their summer rebuilding plans.
"Next season I will be playing for Tottenham," Dos Santos is quoted by Sport as stating, before he went on to claim that the main attraction was the chance to work under Ramos.
Barça are believed to have opted to off-load the youngster after his father and his agent, Pini Zahivi, regularly told the club that he would accept one of the many offers if he was not given a pay rise.
The club demanded that he improve his performances in order to earn that rise and made assurances that his pay would be related to how well he did on the first team.
With more and more clubs showing an interest, Dos Santos has now chosen to move to Tottenham after revealing that he did have a number of other options on the table.
Real To Offer Ronaldo 300k A Week?
In the latest development of one of the most bizarre and high-profile transfer sagas in the history of football, Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo an earth-shattering contract to move to the Spanish champions...
Much of the English press are reporting that the Portuguese phenomenon will be earning the astronomical figure - comfortably over twice as much as the next highest earners in the sport - in a five-year contract worth a staggering £75 million.
Los Blancos are reported to have made it clear to the player's representatives that the offer will not be on the table in a year's time - which is when it is now rumoured Ronaldo will eventually make his 'dream' move.
It was stated late last week that Ronaldo would make a final decision on his future in the coming days and rumours emerged yesterday that the winger had told family and close friends of his plan to leave the club, though there were conflicting reports released hours earlier that the player would stay on for a further year at Old Trafford.
Whether Ronaldo will make his intentions public before Euro 2008 has run its course is yet another piece of this complex puzzle, while Manchester United bosses have said they would sooner let their star rot in the stands than sell him to los Merengues.
Various transfer fees have been banded about in relation to the 23-year-old, but it will without doubt take a world record-breaking amount - meaning over the £46 million paid by Madrid to Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
While these incredible sums of money may seem even beyond the world's most successful club, the president and numerous directors have assured the world that, with the money generated after the player's arrival, he would produce more than enough revenue to cover his own cost.
Real Madrid have on numerous occasions done their bit to try and placate Manchester United management - who have been furious with the continued approach for their player - by saying the signing would be 'impossible', but only to temper such a statement with a look to the future, and the Portuguese international's 'inevitable' signing for the club
Torres: Premiership Defenders Are Dodgy!
Spanish super-striker Fernando Torres has risked becoming public enemy number one amongst opponents next season by publicly ridiculing the ability of Premiership keepers and defenders. He also raised eyebrows by suggesting that Chelsea stars Petr Cech and Ricardo Carvalho are two of the only people in England's top division who really know how to keep the ball out of the net.
The 24-year-old will go into Euro 2008 sky-high in confidence after having scored a remarkable 24 league goals in his maiden season for Liverpool, though he has himself suggested that the tally would not be as high in a more defensively astute league.
“In England the keepers usually come out too soon and try to go one on one with you," he revealed.
“The only exceptions are Edwin Van der Sar and Petr Cech, who hold and hold and try to keep themselves ‘big’ as you close in on them.
“That’s why, against Manchester United and Chelsea, I try to hit the ball early.
“The rest of the Premier keepers tend to come out at you and throw themselves down at the ball too quickly.
“In general, that’s the reason so many goals in England are scored when a striker dribbles right or left and the keeper goes down at his feet. But if you anticipate what’s coming, it’s easier to score," he added.
“The central defenders are usually big, strong, aggressive lads. I guess it is probably because of these characteristics that the majority think they can solve problems by getting tough with me.
“But the truth is most of them lack defensive positioning as a result of their reliance on strength and aggression and leave so much space for you to take advantage of.”
Torres went on to share credit with an unusual ally in his battle of wits against Premiership defenders and keepers while also giving plaudits to one of Liverpool's unsung heroes.
“We’ve a Spanish goalkeeping coach and he has been a genius at telling me every week exactly what kind of task lies in front of me in the following match.
“Nobody has ever worked with me like this before. It’s outstanding. Basically, I know days before the next game exactly the best way to finish a chance against the keeper I’m about to face.
“Xavi Valero tells me precisely what each keeper tends to do — stay big, go down early, if they have a preferred side they try to push you to. It’s vital information. I’ve refined the way I take chances as a result.
“This Liverpool side also works its socks off for me. Dirk Kuyt, for example, is spectacular in how cleverly and how hard he works to make sure I get top-quality possession near goal.
"He does his own work and mine too! I reckon I’ve probably run half a kilometre less than normal when chances drop for me at Liverpool, because some of the guys behind me do so much running and chasing.
"I get fewer chances at Liverpool than at other times in my career but they are always better chances.”
Finally, the ex Atletico Madrid prodigy admitted that there is one Premiership defender that he doesn't fancy coming across.
He said: “Terry is captain so gets a much higher profile. But he’s only secondary to Carvalho. Ricky is superb. He has every quality that is needed.”

After weeks of media speculation Christiano Ronaldo has finally revealed that he wants to leave Manchester United in order to fulfill his dream of playing for Spanish Giants Real Madrid.
Ronaldo was being interviewed by Terra.com.br. when he responded to questions about his future by saying:
"Yes, I would like to play for Real Madrid,"
"That's the truth, depending on what they are willing to spend on me and what Manchester United ask. But that's not up to me."
He also went on to add that he would not be speaking about this again until after The Euro 2008 tournament but it appears that the Portuguese star has made his mind up. Whether Manchester United agrees to sell him to Real Madrid remains to be seen but if they do it will be a major loss for the club because Ronaldo has been the driving force behind their recent success.

Barcelona’s ‘wonderkid’ Giovani Dos Santos has confirmed that he will be playing at White Hart Lane next season.
The Mexican attacking midfielder is one of the most highly rated youngsters at the Nou Camp but struggled to break into Barcelona’s first team last season, making only a handful of first team appearances.
He has decided to join Tottenham Hotspurs and stated that Juande Ramos was the main reason behind the move.
An initial fee of 6 Million Euros has been agreed on by the two clubs, although the fee could rise to 10 Million Euros depending on performance clauses.
Dos Santos confirmed the news saying: “Next season I will be playing for Tottenham"
The Mexican told reporters that he had agreed to move to White Hart Lane and had turned down Manchester City.
The Portuguese phenomenon dropped a bombshell yesterday be decaring that he would like to play for Real Madrid as long as the Merengues were willing to offer him and Manchester United what has been reported for the past weeks.
Ferdinand believes Ronaldo should stay with United, however, insisting he is a vital element in what may become one of the most successful teams in the club’s history.
"This team can get better but we need it to stay together.'' Ferdinand told The Sun.
"We have worked hard to get to the position we are in and want to build on the success we have had.
"That means keeping all the players at the club.''
The Manchester United winger was in world-beating form for United last season, scoring 42 goals as the Red Devils clinched a memorable Premiership and Champions League double.
CHELSEA plan to interview Frank Rijkaard and Roberto Mancini next week.
The Blues have not yet spoken directly to either coach — but they are the front-runners after Carlo Ancelotti announced he is staying at AC Milan.
Chelsea officials decided on a ‘cooling off period’ after Ancelotti’s snub.
With Euro 2008 kicking off tomorrow, they hope to hold talks with the pair without the eyes of the football world on them.
Rijkaard and Mancini were sacked at the end of last season from Barcelona and Inter Milan respectively.
Both rejected the chance to replace Jose Mourinho 16 months ago.
But with potential replacements for Avram Grant dwindling, it has been decided to ask both coaches to prove why they should be the next boss at Stamford Bridge.
Rijkaard has the support of some of Abramovich’s advisors including Chelsea academy director Frank Arnesen and Rom’s football consultant Piet de Visser.
The Dutchman has recently suffered some personal problems, however, and Chelsea are wary they may be dragged to London with him.
Likewise, Mancini has been caught up in allegations that he called a suspected drug dealer during his time at Inter.
Though the coach is not suspected of anything illegal, his mobile number was discovered to have made calls to a police suspect as part of a wider investigation.
That information made it into the Italian media at the time he was sacked and Mancini has threatened to sue Inter if he can prove they were behind it.
Again, Chelsea are extremely wary of employing a manager who brings that kind of baggage with him but are beginning to run out of options.
I think Rijkaard will get it, his a good manager and I'm sure Chelsea will go far under him.
