Summer Transfers

I think that's a bit harsh. They are more than just average. Ferdinand maybe, but Vidic is def not average.

Well Nani hardly gets a chance to play, so I will wait until he has enough games under his belt before I judge him.

His played over enough minutes to prove himself last season.I say use the money from ronaldo and buy a better player in nani's position.

He came on now and then for about 20 minutes. I think he needs to be given more games and a regular place in the starting team. I don't think coming on once or twice a month for 20 minutes is enough time for him to prove himself just yet.

Ferguson wants Santa Cruz to lead the Line

Sir Alex Ferguson wants to bring Blacburn Rovers' striker Roque Santa Cruz to Manchester United next season.

The 26 year old Paraguyan has been in amazing form since his move from German champions Bayern Munich, scoring 23 goals in his first season in english football.

Ferguson is looking for a striker to lead the line as both carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney do not have the right qualities for that specific position.

He is also rumoured to be looking at Ajax Amsterdams's Huntelaar and Sevilla's Luis Fabiano but Cruz seems to be the most viable option now that Mark Hughes has left Blackburn Rovers. Santa Cruz is a tall, muscular striker with exceptional heading ability and could be just what United need up front.

Santa Cruz admitted that there is some kind of offer from United but nothing concrete yet, saying: "The interest from Manchester United is real, but I’m busy now so my representatives will handle anything if there is a concrete offer”

The guy has played 1565 minutes this season...

Manchester will need a striker and I think he will be the answer.
Good player and has been on form.

Lol, where did you find that?

Ya we need a genuine out-and-out striker.

PS: All this transfer news is already in the Transfer News/Gossip thread.

Found a profile of him that had all his stats, as I knew he played over enough last season but was still crap.

Spurs/Barca have now confirmed the transfer:

Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign Giovani dos Santos from Barcelona.

The Mexican, who can play in midfield or attack, will sign a five-year contract in a move which will cost an initial £4.7m and could rise to £8.6m.

Barcelona have retained the right to 20% of any fee should the 19-year-old move on from Spurs in the first two years of his spell with the club.

And, according to the Spanish club's website, they will get 10% of any fee if he is sold later in his contract.

Dos Santos first joined Barcelona in 2002 and came through the youth ranks at the Nou Camp.

He broke into the first-team under former boss Frank Rijkaard last season and made 16 starts in all competitions and came on as a substitute 22 times in the campaign.

Dos Santos also scored a hat-trick in the final league game of the season as Barca beat Murcia 5-3.

The winger, who can also play up front or behind a main striker, helped Mexico to win the World under-17 championship in Peru in 2005.

He is regarded as a promising talent but appears to have been allowed to leave by the Nou Camp oufit as they also have youngsters Lionel Messi and Bojan Krkic in their ranks.

South American football reporter Tim Vickery told BBC Sport: "He is the son of Brazil international Zizinho, but he plays for Mexico - and masterminded the 3-0 win over Brazil in the final of the 2005 World Under-17 Cup.

"He is a slight figure with a terrific burst of acceleration and he has a superb left foot."

I was hoping for a link :p. It's not really fair to judge him by that number. It's not really fair to just say he played 1500 minutes and hasn't done anything. He comes to play when there's like 20 minutes left. I think he needs to start much more. He hasn't been performing as well as he could. I'd still like to give him a proper chance before letting him go. I wonder how things will change with Aaron Ramsey in the team.

He started 16 times more times than when he came on off the bench.

Ramsey that hasnt been confirmed yet, they agreed terms but doesnt mean his going.ITs still between arsenal, everton and man u.

Still talking about United's legends :D

It will only be a goggle supporter who will say Vidic, Rio, Evra etc are legends.

Legends from United
George Best
Sir Bobby
Cantona

I agree with all the Nani statments. Him i dont rate but i even rate Anderson lower. Tired of hearing about how Ronaldo was when he came to OT and Nani is going to be the same.

Two different players, not everybody is the next Ronaldo.

i agree with u ... these players are legendary...the only reason why ppl disagree with you is because they cant stand the fact united is tops n produce top players...lets hear from the clubs u ppl support to see who has produced legends.... YES UNITEDS BACKLINE IS PROB THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!! not only did united win champ League n premier legue...but in the premier league we scored the most goals and RECORD LEAST GOALS CONCEDED (i think only 22 whole season) and we alsohavent lost a game in the champ league this season...vidic evra ferdinand etc ....DEFINITELY LEGENDS

You in the wrong thread if you think these players are legendary. Try the transger/gossip or Man United threads ;)

Legends of football are the likes of Pele, Maradona, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Best etc.

Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma.

Reports emanating from Portugal claim Chelsea are ready to table a bid for the skilful wide-man.

The 24-year-old is thought to be considering his future at Porto and could be interested in a move away to a top club.

Porto are facing a fight to keep hold of their star players following their expulsion from next season's UEFA Champions League.

The news has alerted the likes of Chelsea, Internazionale and Real Madrid to Quaresma's possible availability this summer.

Porto president Jorge Pinto da Costa has warned any interested club that it will take a bid of 30m euros (£24million) to buy the Portuguese international.

"Those who are interested must pay his £30 million buy-out clause," said da Costa.
