City closing on Brazilian targets

Manchester City executive chairman Garry Cook expects the club to confirm the signing of striker Jo in the next week and has also raised hopes of a deal for Barcelona and Brazil playmaker Ronaldinho coming to Eastlands.

City are just days away from finalising the terms of their move for Jo, the CSKA Moscow forward, but it is the news that the club have been given permission to talk to his compatriot, one of the most recognisable players in world football, that will really excite fans.

"We're almost there (with Jo). It might be in the next seven days, sooner if possible," Cook told Radio Five Live.

He added: "What's great to me is that a year ago we were looking at a very different player profile, so we are very excited by it.

"We want to set targets for ourselves individually, play better and get better. Mark does too and wants to work with that type of player."

As for Ronaldinho, Cook added: "It's a tenuous stage and I don't want to give too much away, but Barcelona gave us clearance to talk to him.

"We had some people in Brazil last weekend, who we've been talking to but we have a long, long list of things we need to get done because of the type of player he is - the world's greatest player.

"We're nowhere near completion but the most important thing is that he wants to get back and play football. He wants to show the world he is the greatest player. At the moment, though, we're just ticking off the boxes.

Reports Claim Shearer Wants Rovers Job

ccording to the The Times , Shearer, 37, has told Rovers chairman John Williams that he does want to be considered for the role, having emerged as the fans' favourite to fill the vacancy left by Mark Hughes.

Despite his strong Newcastle links, Shearer is still an immensely popular figure at Ewood Park. Not only did he famously turn down Manchester United for Blackburn but he also helped them win the Premier League title in 1995.

Although the appointment of Shearer as boss would go down well with the fans at Blackburn there are other candidates that are believed to be interesting the Rovers’ board.

Former England manager Steve McClaren has intimated that he would be keen to take up the job and Paul Ince and Sam Allardyce are also thought to be candidates.

Chelsea Willing To Break Bank For Ribéry
Reports in today’s Daily Mail claim that owner Roman Abramovich is willing to part with £31 million in order to prise the talented Frenchman away from Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.

The story claims that Blues chief executive Peter Kenyon has already made contact with the German giants, although a decision over any transfer will not be made until after the completion of this summer’s European Championships.

Bayern under new trainer Jürgen Klinsmann will obviously want to keep Ribéry at the club after he dazzled for them last season on the way to clinching a league and Cup double.

He was voted their ‘Player of the Year’ and will be a key member of the side next season as they look to win the Champions League.

He joined Bayern last summer from Marseille for £16, but his value has rocketed on the back of last season’s showing.

Chelsea will now need to pay just over the £30.8m they spent on Andriy Shevchenko two seasons ago, but it's understood Russian billionaire Abramovich is prepared to do it.

I wonder if they will get him. I dont think so. He is hot property @ Bayern

No I think he will stay there, an Bayern will make sure of that.

IMO it will forever be a large dark stain on his Liverpool carrier. Reading his autobiography I was left rather appalled by his conduct.

Carra is the true legend. No flirting for cash and Chelsea for him. Humble and committed. Not always for Gerrard unfortunately.

Inter Deco Transfer Just Hours Away
Mourinho only took charge of the Nerazzurri a week ago, but he has already moved swiftly in the transfer market.

An attacking centre midfielder was always going to be the main priority for Inter this summer, and it seems they are close to solving the problem by capturing Barcelona star Deco.

The 30-year-old had a disappointing season at Camp Nou and will definitely leave the club. Latest reports in Italy say that Inter have agreed to pay Barca between 12 and 13 million Euros, with Deco signing a three year contract worth five million Euros per season.

Deco, who is said to be just days or even hours away from completing the move, will wear the number 20 shirt and will renew his relationship with his former Porto coach Mourinho.

The playmaker is currently on show at this summer’s European Championships for his adopted country Portugal.

He signed for Barcelona from Porto in 2004 in a cash plus player deal involving Ricardo Quaresma, and has won two La Liga titles and one Champions League.

Ya, he can goto Inter and we can replace him with???

Seems like Italy and Spain are buying and selling players like crazy and England are not.

LOL ya there will be nothing left if they dont start buying now.

Fiorentina To Swoop For Podolski?

The Viola are currently bolstering their side ahead of next season’s Champions League adventures and they are looking to bring in another striker to partner Gilardino up front if Mutu leaves.

The Romanian may exit the Artemio Franchi door and Calciomercato claim he is asking for an increased wage deal on his current contract and this may force the club to let him go.

Schalke are interested in the Viola striker who is away on international duty with Romania. If he leaves, Fiorentina would look to Bayern Munich’s Podolski as his replacement.

La Viola have an excellent relationship with the German club after selling Luca Toni to them last year.

Fiorentina are looking to take Podolski on loan and this would suit Bayern as the German international would remain their player.

The Gigliati finished fourth this term to return to the Champions League for the first time in 8 years.

Cesare Prandelli will be looking to take the club even further this year and the Della Valle brothers are ready to do whatever it takes in order to bring back some much needed glory to the Franchi.

Mutu has an on-going legal battle regarding his drugs-taking past and this could be another factor which his club may consider when push comes to shuv.
