Think Liverpool will challenge for the Prem this season Alan?
No. Fighting for fourth again unless we bring in a wc winger, striker and keep Crouch at least. Even then I don't believe Rafa can win the Prem

Think Liverpool will challenge for the Prem this season Alan?
Aaron Ramsey says he chose Arsenal over Manchester United because he felt it was the right decision for his long term development.
The 17-year-old is expected to complete a £5 million deal in the next few days after being encouraged by Arsene Wenger's pledge to take personal responsibility for his development. The Arsenal manager also promised Ramsey that he would remain at the club rather than be sent back to Cardiff on loan, as had been proposed by Manchester United.
"It is an honour to be wanted by massive clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United and Everton," Ramsey said. "In the end I had to make the decision I felt was right for my future."
Arsenal's record of giving young players early opportunities in the first team was also an influential factor, with Wenger using the examples of Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott and Denilson to demonstrate that he would be given a chance to stake his claim, initially in the Carling Cup but potentially in the Barclays Premier League, before the end of next season. United were unable to make the same commitment.
Although Ramsey is excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League, he realises he has some way to go before becoming a regular at the Emiorates Stadium.
"Cardiff City gave me my start in professional football and I won't forget that. It doesn't seem that long ago when I first joined as a schoolboy," Ramsey added. "I have come a fair way since then, but there is still a lot of hard work ahead."
United's annoyance at being beaten in the race to sign him is likely to be compounded by the embarrassing revelation that the loss of the talented teenager was partially self-inflicted. It is understood that the failure of Sir Alex Ferguson to attend a meeting with the player at the club's Carrington training ground on Friday played a crucial part in his decision to choose Arsenal because it contrasted starkly with the attitude of Wenger, who took the 17-year-old and his parents for lunch in Zurich.
Peter Ridsdale, the Cardiff chairman, says that while United are understandably disappointed to lose out on the player, they understand the situation. "I believe we handled the situation as well as it could be handled," Ridsdale said.
"I spoke to David Gill, Manchester United's chief executive, yesterday and they are disappointed, but there is no problem with Cardiff City whatsoever. We had a detailed chat and there is no bad vibe, none whatsoever. I kept Manchester United informed at every moment.
"They were the first to make a £5 million offer, but I told them at the time that if any other clubs came in at an identical level, they would also be given permission for talks with Aaron. Arsenal have sent me an e-mail thanking Cardiff City for the way the transfer negotiations were handled."
Juventus Enhance Alonso Offer
The Bianconeri are keen on the Spanish international and recently Giovanni Cobolli Gigli confirmed the club are in on-going talks with the Reds for the midfielder.
However, so far talks have hit a brick wall as Liverpool are not willing to budge on the £15m price tag.
According to reports in Italy, Juve only wanted to offer half of what Liverpool were asking for but now it seems as if the Old Lady has upped the ante as she attempts to prize Alonso away from Anfield.
Stadio News 24 claims the Old Lady has offered Liverpool €18m (£14.2m) which is still slightly off the £15m that the Reds are asking for.
However, it is likely that the Merseysiders will accept this latest offer as the Bianconeri are not looking to move any further up on their latest bid.
Claudio Ranieri is a big admirer of the Spanish player and he will be hoping to add him to his midfield department to partner Momo Sissoko.
Juve have returned to the Champions League and they are currently building a side for the future capable of challenging for major honours.
The Old Lady believes it would be a shame if Juve lose out on Alonso having come so close this time and she is trying her best to capture the player before other clubs beging swooping.
Chelsea are on course to build a strong team for next season.
FIFA Go With Madrid On Ronaldo
The Red Devils lodged an official complaint last week regarding the manner in which los Merengues have approached the Portugal superstar, who spurred his country to victory against the Czech Republic yesterday.
Sir Alex Ferguson and co believe the Spanish giants have been tapping-up their prize winger, with recent revelations suggesting Real have been in contact with Ronaldo and his agent for several months.
But los Blancos have refused to admit to any foul play on their part – and world football’s governing body has sided with the La Liga champions.
A spokesman for the FIFA executive committee said: “United’s chances of getting Real punished are zero.
“I think everyone knows that these things go on in football but proving any wrongdoing is next to impossible.
“Real are very powerful and I don’t think they’ll be too worried about United’s claims.”
Mickey
The sordid saga has not been helped by the man in the middle of it all, as Ronaldo has failed to commit his future one way or the other.
And ex-United winger Gordon Hill believes the 23-year-old's behaviour on and off the pitch has made a mockery of the club and its traditions.
“It looks like there’s been something cooking for months,” he said. “What pees me off is that meanwhile they grab the shirt and they grab the badge. That takes the mickey.”
Getting back to the issue at hand, with FIFA having washed their hands off this subject, and Ronaldo and Madrid keen on the reunion (as apparent from their daily reminders), the chances of Manchester United holding on to the winger are growing slimmer by the day.
Cesc: Villa Would Be Amazing At Arsenal
Fabregas bagged his first ever goal for his national side in 27 appearances during the 4-1 win over Russia last night, but didn't at all mind that it was Villa that grabbed all the headlines with his wonderful hattrick.
"He would be amazing for the English league,'' Fabregas said of the Valencia goal-machine.
"I would like to have him in my team because as you can see he can make the difference.
"He's an amazing player. He has mobility, he scores goals ... he plays well at the back of defenders, in front of them, he's a tremendous player.”
Ironically, the better that Villa performs at Euro 2008, the lower the chances of him linking up with Fabregas at Arsenal, since Gunners boss Arsene Wenger rarely -if ever- allows himself to get dragged into bidding wars over in-demand players.
